ОтветитьBest racing ever imo: Guidon d'Or
ОтветитьAnother series to bring American riders and AMA specification road racing bikes to European tracks were the Anglo American match races in 1971 and 1972 with Triumph/BSA triples and American and British riders. Was this an intentional precursor to Formula 750?
ОтветитьYou're right, the best times. I remember seeing Derek Chatterton many times on his 'Chat Yamaha' TZ350 giving some famous names a wake up call at Cadwell.
ОтветитьI’m off out on my motorcycle so will watch this in a bit!
ОтветитьI was at Laguna Seca to watch the two strokes and super bikes in 1980, 81 on the old track.
ОтветитьGreatest racing series of all time, without doubt, was ABC TV's 'Superbikers',World Champions from road racing and MX, versus the dream of flattracking, the 'Wrecking Crew'! It made Danny 'Magoo' Chandler into the legend he was...best motorcyclist in the planet...started last in qualifying, to winning the series!
ОтветитьThis is super cool.
ОтветитьRace a factory 1975 H2 750. Oh man.
ОтветитьSuper hard and fkn dangerous. Like riding a pogo stick in a minefield. You can wreck at any moment.
ОтветитьA few years ago I came across a yt video of a race where there was one or two black rotary bikes and it was the most exiting race I have ever seen.
ОтветитьThis offering truly warmed my heart. What a Glorious era the 70's was for motorcycling. Here in the states You often heard the the phrase "win on Sunday sell on monday" my God was that true, only in reality most bike shops were closed on Monday as most shops had a amateur team racing MX locally.🏆
Ответитьbrilliant video as usual much appreciated 😀
ОтветитьYou sound good, I know you're working hard & it's appreciated, at least from me. I'll be back to watch this again when I can
do so in peace. peace & GB You/yours
Quite the best video! I remember so many of the names mentioned
ОтветитьNice memories! Always wanted to build a street legal TZ750. Probably the main reason I made it to 65 is the fact that I couldn't make it happen.
ОтветитьMy favorite Honda is the VT 750 DC
Ответитьwhat a time to be alive!!! BTW...its not "mossport park" it is pronounced mo- sport for motor sport park. now they call it Canadian Tire motorsports park but to us locals it will always be MOSPORT. THX FOR THE GREAT VIDEO.
ОтветитьEntertaining ,good commentary ,i subscribed to your channel
ОтветитьThey may not have been as fast as today’s MotoGP machines but they were still frighteningly quick with those 2-stroke engines and brakes that were sketchy, and questionable frames they could be really dangerous. In one of the scenes here you can see a guy go into the grass and crash and then see him crawling away. These guys got beat up bad!
Also, American names like Romero, Nixon and King Kenny were already famous from their flat track racing!
Also, also - Yvonne Duhamel’s son Miguel raced in AMA Superbikes for years as well.
Who was Pat Hennan?
ОтветитьThanks for taking the time to make these videos, very interesting.
ОтветитьI was a bit young and stuck in a garden or playing sports on weekends so didn’t get to watch any of this back in the day.
Just had my transmission bite the dust so gonna be out 5 grand or more so can't afford to do anything but give a thumbs up and tell you you are the best motorcycle content creator by far. Please don't throw in the towel like I have had to do on the thought of buying a Versys this winter.😔👍🏻
Funny how racing always seems to shuttle between 'stock' -ish bikes on safe (ish) courses to maximal designs on legacy tracks that inevitably turn into death traps; and those new bikes always seem to come with a new crop of insanely talented young pilots, who race them like they were born on them. 'Zeitgeist' is a very real phenomenon....
Personally, I really enjoy the current Moto2 series using the Triumph triple. Yes, it's basically a parade until the last three laps, but it rewards riders and teams for prep and strategy, rather than being more purely risk and talent focused. It makes those uncommon moments of artistry better for being more difficult to achieve rather than rewarding pure mayhem and the ability to survive.
Your work is amazing. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
ОтветитьGreat video (even if much footage is of 500’s). Minor point: Saarinen (pictured on a 350 passing Duhamel) died (May 73) before the TZ750 won its first race (John Boote, New Zealand, Dec 73).
