People's ignorance is just mind blowing. The flight was not overbooked. This man bought a ticket for his eldest son, who decided to travel home on an earlier flight. This means that the passenger did not show up on the flight for which the ticket was purchased. When there is a "no show" the seat becomes available for a standby passenger, someone who purchased a last minute ticket but does not have a guaranteed seat. This situation is part of the terms and conditions, which passengers agree to when purchasing a ticket. It was the passenger who decided to travel on a different flight. The airline cannot be held responsible for the decisions made by its passengers. Remember that when you buy a plane ticket, you are signing a contract with the airline, and that contract is the only thing that is valid in court. If the situation is taken to court, the airline wins the case, as there is a contract signed by both parties.

ОтветитьSo Delta staff is lying to the face of it it´s costumers, I remember when I was 22 traveling alone a similar incident with Delta they had over booked and they tried to kick out a family with 3 children because it was some kind of VIP person boarding last, I am not an American so I was there as tourist from Sweden and the flight attendant were so agitated that she would not listen because I tried after 20 min of fighting with the family that the VIP person could have my seat It was only when the captain came in to the picture and he heard me say that over and over again that the issue finally resolved itself. But the best part was that this family later on became very good friends and they have now visited me here in Europe as for my flight I just took the next one available but who is so important that they will force a dad or mother from their 3 small children it is disgusting and why did not the staff start to ask if anyone else would freely give up their seat, I would have done so easily even from from the start.
ОтветитьFlying is a glorified overcrowded city bus in the air. The planes are overused and under maintenanced to maximize profit which allows for risk of horrific crashes. The only legit way to fly is privately but only super rich can afford that. I've flown several times and it's always a pain in the rear..not flying again until I can afford my own jet

ОтветитьJust when I thought delta airlines was the best now I’m disappointed with them. This is why I don’t fly anymore. They treat people like trash and they are not the only airline doing it. Stay home or drive to a place for vacation you will be much happier

ОтветитьFunny thing: They MADE US PUT THE KID IN THE SEAT during a flight in September. Stating “You cannot hold the child (who was turning two a few days later).” She was not wanting to be seated and cried the whole take-off. Interesting.

Ответитьthe Sheers had 4 passengers but only 3 paid seat but wanted to use the 4th paid seat which their teen son didn't show for the flight for. unbeknownst to the Sheers, that seat with the teen son's name cannot be transferred to the 1 year old and is turned back to delta to sell to last minute passengers even if the dad paid money for the seat. teen son doesn't show then the seat is given up. also 1 year olds cannot sit upright nor can you lay them down on a seat by themselves. the 1 year old flew to Maui as a lap baby so why would anything change on the return flight. all around misunderstanding and bad explanation by delta crew as well but the airline was not in the wrong. delta settle out of courtesy and avoiding bad press.
