I met a lot of Japanese friends in college. We were even roommates. Whenever I visit Japan, it feels very warm and positive due to these old friendships.

I can imagine that living there [Japan] without a solid context or history of friendship would be very difficult. The society is pretty hermetic and that is difficult. Unless you like feeling of being surrounded by people and yet utterly alone.

I have family in Japan and I've made actual friends here but everyone's experience is different. The pros outweigh the cons for my father and I, I'm personally tired of the violence in Los Angeles.
