I have a firm belief that the episode which will adapt the chapters "count 1" to "natsuki subaru" (i hope they put those 4 chapters in a single episode without rushing) in season 3 will definitely be on par with or top episode 15, it just has so much potential, a horrific start, absolute despair and suffering and probably the hardest emotionally hitting scene in the entire series.
The only thing it won't have which 15 did would be a horrific WTF ending, though the ending would still be goated with the "looks like my summer vacation is over" i hope they do it justice.

But both characters do not die so that neuters the effects of this episode. Subaru just respawns and Rem comes back so it's lack of permanence just doesn't hold any weight.

Just because of your recommendation I went ahead and watched the 1st 18 episodes. Each harder to watch than the last. MC’s stupidity and bluntness and not having quite solid plot makes this show quite boring. Recently I watched your review on comparing reZero to Mushoku Tensei and having watched both I would easily say reZero should not be used in the same sentence as Mushoku Tensei. The latter being astronomically superior.

I actually had the exact same feeling while watching that episode.
Especially at the end. But the episode itself just stood out so much.
After my first watch of re:zero after a few years that was the only episode i remembered fully and It was the greatest memory of that anime.

The best anime episode is SDF macross's episode 27, nothing remotely compares to that
