Runaway Diesel Engines 2022

I don't understand why anyone would even buy diesel vehicles. This design is astonishingly flawed and extremely dangerous, could have killed someone if you let the engine explode

Diesel runaway: basically the whole fuel tank

I was a prime power production specialist in the Army and was hired by Detroit Diesel as a field service technician for land based generators, marine applications and marine propulsion. Worked in a test cell for a couple years as well…I wanted to know everything possible that I might face. From generators on the North Slope, fishing vessels in Dutch Harbor, water taxis, catamaran ferries, MotorYachts, Super Yachts, business backup power generation, private citizens backup power…you name it I have seen it. All except a runaway Diesel engine. Never happened in the military or as a civilian. But, I never had a desire to miscalibrate an injector pump and I also loved making six figures by traveling around the world…troubleshooting engines and paralleling equipment, etc. This to me is a rarity and would loved to have seen it.

Diesel soot is a known carcinogenic, The World health organization placed it in the same category as mustard gas & asbestosis look it up dummies

My 2-stroke motorcycle gas engine had a runaway once. (Disconnected spark plug connector!)

Разнос такая тема ,перекрыть топливо перекрыть доступ к кислороду вовремя,если закончит топливо возьмёт масло,причина разноса в аппарате а не в двигателе

Нужно остановить подачу воздуха, закрыв воздушный фильтр 😅

Diesel engines run on air and diesel, that's it...if you choke off the air or the diesel from flowing into the engine, it dies.

Me & a buddy were hanging out in his dad's shop while his dad was working on a CAT engine from 1978 , He had been rebuilding it. It started to runaway from him as he was adjusting something on the side of the engine & he/we had no idea what was happening, The screaming diesel literally scared the shit out of us to the point we were just looking at each other in confusion & when it finally went I mean it went like a crate of tnt . Was a crazy ass experience.

Идиоты... если дизель пошел "в разнос" нужно любыми путями перекрывать доступ воздуха в мотор. Заткнуть воздухозаборник или использовать углекислотный огнетушитель.

Just block the air intake and it will stop.

Removing the battery from a diesel vehicle with a mechanical fuel pump will not cause it to quit running.

In most of the cases of diesel Runaway, is that fuel got down in the oil pan either from a leak or from an older engine where the Rings are getting worn and fuel got down into the oil during use! Ways to prevent that is to change your oil more frequently, install a shut-off valve on the fuel would also help? But then also to block the air intake which would quickly shut the motor down. I would worry a little bit about putting I hand over it, because there could be significant vacuum on the intake, or to put a rag that could get sucked in? You do not want to put anything that could get drawn into the motor,, because you have to get it back out before you can use it again!

It amazes me how these people weren't aware enough to immediately block the intake. Just goes to show they should never be near an engine.

I like how so many people had a fire extinguisher but none of them sprayed it in the air intake
