This movie is god tier compare to shit that comes out this year.

When I watched this movie, I was too digusted ti even laugh at it. Im not even kidding, I literally gagged in a few scenes. This movie wasnt funny, just gross.

That line about eliminating the impossible isn't the movie's fault. It's a paraphrase of a famous quote from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - who also thought that fairies were real and people could magically teleport through stone walls. He might have been smart, but he was also gullible.

I just found this channel and this review, I thought you were a pretty good reviewer until this. This was a good movie, stop being offended

Sherlock is so important to me and the books are so damn good... but wtf is this???

This movie would have been a bit better if rather than being a parody of Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes, it was a parody of Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock Holmes.

Speaking plainly, this is to sherlock holmes as Velma is to Scooby-Doo.

Eveyone asked me why I haven't seen the Barbie movie this year. It's because I found out Will Ferrell was in it.

This might be a weird thing to say, but imagine if they went the Anchorman route instead. Go for full blown deadpan absurdism, but also have an actual plot and some stakes you can at least kinda care about. Especially with that great cast! I’d at least take that over whatever it is we actually got.

Basically if will Ferrell is in it, it's shit.

Your British dry wit is like the well intentioned bit of seasoning on a otherwise completely bland bowl of potato salad that is this film. Didn’t even use Mayo.

Holmes being an idiot COULD be a funny subversion of the character.
But then we'd need a hyper-competent Watson to act as his foil.
The writers had literally no knowledge of comedy OR narrative writing.

hahahahha Steve Coogan is a treasure. I liked Hamlet 2 that was AWESOME.

This is the very antithesis to British comedy/humor. Subtly and dry wit are hallmarks of Brit comedy. Over the top cheese (done properly) is usually the base for American comedy. This takes the worst of both and runs with it. Ps several years later and the Trump jokes HAVE aged poorly... coz people love him now AND HE WAS RIGHT BOUT EVERYTHING.

This movie feels like it was made in the early 2000s

I notoriously like basically everything and the best I can say about this is that it had its moments.

It was cheap, idiotic and absurd...I liked it. Quality is not the only thing in life.

The Pink Panther movie would be a far superior alternative of a movie.

This is a disgrace to the Sherlock holmes Legacy sincr the jokes even in the books can be rather high brow and when they hit they hit hard. The RBJ version had some great comedic bits for sure

Of course the Trump jokes dated badly. After seeing how much hell Biden has committed, everyone who overcriticized T money while undercritiquing Biden now looks like a massive hypocrite. It's like comedians doing blackface at a Civil Rights March back in the 60s, it's just in bad taste.

When I watched this movie in theaters, I legit screamed and marched out of the cinema.

My grandma took me to see this movie for my birthday. I was still too little to understand how bad this was but we both had fun

you missed the point of this movie entirely. its intention was to mock EVERYTHING that england and english are, ESPECIALLY your horrible accents. and with that, they succeeded completely. thats why i love this movie and watch it often. you should have realized all of this since you claim to be a cynic. one of the english speaking worlds greatest comedy minds once said “cynicism is my least favorite characteristic of a person”. i would say that striving to be one is the the worst.

I really dislike Will Ferrell, mainly because he's had the exact same routine since he's started, he was funny at first but now i'm sick of him. I always like John C. Reilly a lot more 'cause he can do serious performances and has a more dynamic filmography than Will "Man-Child" Ferrell.
