Werent the 1972 decimal coins not actually circulated, as so many were minted in 1971 as decimalisation came in Feb 1971 so they didn't mint any coins till 1973, however some were made as commemorative sets, so any coin dated 1972 must be worth keeping, I had a set in plastic case proof uncirculated set, but they have been lost sadly, they should be worth a fair bit, you didn't mention them...

I’m a Yankee but lived in Bristol when decimal conversion took place. Very interesting times. The old system is unique as a duodecimal system. Farthings and half pennies were no longer used but I deeply regretted that my mother wouldn’t let me bring back a cigar box of thrup’ny bits. Some older folks buried old coin in case the new system failed. Get those metal detectors out. I like to make lapel pins using interesting coins. They make cheap but unique gifts. I bury some of the coins I don’t want in the park for the hobbyists to find with their metal detectors. I live across the street and love to wash dishes as I watch them find some pretty curious coins. 😂
