My garage is a lot worse than that and not like the ones you can't even get into. That garage is organized chaos to me, lol. I have been using your tips for my decluttering/why do I have this thingy and what the #$%@! (Fill in the blank with your choice word, lol). I was having but what about the money I spent on these great fabrics that got ridiculous and overwhelming. I have 11 big bags of fabric to donate. I now can't wait to use my new machine purchased last November. Thank you so much.
Ответить🙈😂 I like how you can have a beautiful simple living space and then boom monica closet/garage/basement
ОтветитьI think she just needed someone to back her up on getting rid of her sons old toys. Lol. It seemed very easy for her.
ОтветитьI think some of my friends are afraid to ask me for help because I am such a minimalist. I think they feel that I will force them to get rid of too much. 😏
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьHaha I love that comment about having to get stuff out of the house quick so it’s shoved in the garage! I feel so seen hahaha wish me luck I’m tackling this space today. Thank you for your video. Even your garage looks a lot less overwhelming than mine! One step at a time and I have to remember to just breathe haha
ОтветитьThe son should be decluttering...
ОтветитьIt was so nice to see Diana again! You both have so much charisma.
ОтветитьGarage
ОтветитьMy scary storage is our basement, because there are so much technology stuff lying around and I don’t know how to deal with them without my husband’s permission but I can sort through the rest of stuff. Another reason, our house needs painting so seeing my painting supplies reminds me what I’m supposed to do. Feeling the stress or guilt every time I enter the basement.
ОтветитьTwo years ago I went into our local thrift shop and found 5 of the 12”+ Marvel super hero action figures/dolls for $1 each. I couldn’t believe it. There’s no way that we would have been able to purchase them at full price. I bought them all and they went under the Christmas tree. My boys still play with them regularly. As a mum, I know how difficult it can be to pass on our baby’s things as they are outgrown - but these items can be such a blessing to other families in the future.
ОтветитьThis was a great video. I actually sat down and searched for a video like this because I am on my way out to the garage to declutter, but needed some motivation first. This was perfect!
ОтветитьLoved this one soooo much thank you for helping me let go of so many useless things occupying space in my garage, home & mind.
ОтветитьWhat if you have a single car garage, a small under stairs storage in the basement that's hard to get to. Plus no closet space in the house. How can I do this bin idea?
ОтветитьHer house is beautiful!
ОтветитьFinally tackling my shed after a year and a half of dreading it. Thought I would be at the mercy of my kids to do most of the lifting and angry teenagers don't make great helpers, but my son has helped about 15 minutes, and fixed steak for lunch so my energy stayed up and focused on a project that I thought would just be a first day of the project, but is actually going to be done in 1 day with 3 bins to sort inside, and 1 little shelf left needing sorted at another time.
ОтветитьThis isn't exactly what I was needing, I need to sort through garage stuff, not house stuff that's been moved to the garage. Regarding actual garage clutter, we need to figure out how to sort and store things like chemicals and paint, gardening tools, home project supplies, hardware and tools, and expensive but occasional use items like our generator. We'd love to cut it down but can't figure out what to let go of... Is there a video with this information somewhere?
ОтветитьIf it's her son's stuff, why isn't he a part of the process?
ОтветитьWe don't have a garage yet, as we are still in an apartment, but this sure does inspire me for garage organization and motivates me to continue to minimize our home for the future! I wouldn't say I'm dreading any space now that I've been decluttering and downsizing since last May, but we do have our "black hole" spare room closet which I suppose is sort of like garage in that it's where a lot of stuff goes that I want to keep but don't know what to do with, LOL. I do still need to create an official memory bin, so thank you for the reminder! I'm sure it will help me when I face that space soon!
Great video, and great work, team! 😃
This was great! Being able to drive into a freshly cleaned and organized garage is such a boost for mental health.
I would so appreciate if you could do a segment on how to safely and ethically declutter and dispose of chemicals/cleaners etc that accumulate in our homes and garages. When I moved into my current home I "inherited" many gallon containers of old polyurethane, cleaning acids, paint, auto fluids etc. Some were accepted at seasonal local community clean up drives but most were not accepted. I've learned to buy the smallest amount I can get by with so I don't have like half a gallon of whatever left that I'm not going to use. I don't want to dump stuff down the drain or pour it over soil in the backyard...help! I use only non-toxic cleaners but certain home improvement projects require this or that chemical product. Thanks for all your tips!
We moved into a house whose garage is part of an office. I love not having a garage or basement. The garage always caused so much stress.... looking at all the "stuff".
ОтветитьPlease send me the extra clear bins! My landlord is selling my house and I have to pack fast. I will pass them on an pay it forward after I move, to help someone else
ОтветитьI have that card!!! Until last year I had a Jack Russell dog child 😍
ОтветитьGarages seem really tough to keep cleared out….. glad I don’t have one.
ОтветитьGood job , just want to nicely ask, what does the word band-width, why saying it so much?
ОтветитьI've watched a few of these videos where you have gone to someone's home and filled up the trailer with their things and maybe I missed it but....what do you do with all that stuff? Is it going to the dump? Are you keeping track of what they wanted donated vs tossed and then dropping stuff off as the homeowner wanted? This is where I get stuck - I have boxes of things in my living room for close to a year of stuff I had decided I no longer wanted but wasn't sure what to do with it all. Do you have any tips/videos where you speak about what is 'donation' worthy vs trash? Thanks for the straight talk and telling me it really is ok to declutter all this 'stuff' that I've accumulated but aren't using.
ОтветитьRemoving the stuff I decided to let go, sometimes take quite long to get done.....
ОтветитьI wish my garage looked as good as her "before"... lol
ОтветитьThis lady is very organized. You gotta do this again with someone who really needs help. Haha! It could take days though. Haha!!
ОтветитьDiana! This was a great video! Now that it is cooler, I will start in my garage!
ОтветитьThe scariest storage space for me is all of my husbands stuff in the basement and garage.
ОтветитьI love your twins channel! You two sound so much alike!
ОтветитьWhen you are autistic we don't have a problem with my items. We have a problem with everything but my room
ОтветитьGreat video! Did I hear that the bag of extra hangers went to the trash? I'm not sure how it is in the States but here in Ontario Canada, the larger thrift stores will take good quality hangers and resell them. I usually buy my hangers from Value Village.
Ответить❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьI'm dealing with my husband and mother in law who both hold on to stuff that holds too much emotional and physical space. I feel like their crap is smothering me. Storage is expensive! Ugh.
ОтветитьI was very organized with my whole house. The problem with that is I never needed to go through everything until we had to move. It was a very difficult process for my daughter to get rid of stored items, toys, crafts. If we had gone through more of the bins earlier it would have made the process so much easier. If you continue to declutter your space it won’t be as stressful. I had been decluttering my home but I wasn’t as brutal as I should have been. Just because it was clean and organized doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go through everything.
ОтветитьReally useful video! I do WISH my basement and garage were as organized as when Lisa started. I’m seriously overwhelmed and need to get a start. Also having help would be a dream
ОтветитьAs a professional organizer, I always found Garages to be the hardest. You did a terrific job
ОтветитьThis is what needs to happen I n our basement storage area. Wouldn't it be great to be able to "rent a team" of assistants for such a project?
ОтветитьMy scary space is the walk in closet where my art surplus and my dining room/homeschool space as its an open design.
ОтветитьPlease make a video specifically about the inflow of items!!
ОтветитьReally enjoyed and had an 🤔moment with seasonal cooking items. Off to gather and relocate my items now.
ОтветитьHere in Canada, we are concerned about pollution and landfill and try to re-cycle as much as possible. For example throwing out 'stuff' means it has to go somewhere and I just imagine it all sitting there somewhere, much of it not decomposing for centuries, if ever. The whole re-cycling process is so many steps, sorting, finding out where to recycle, transporting it there, then recycling. It feels like it doubles the work. But the guilt of putting more 'stuff' in the landfill and polluting our environment at the same time is paralyzing. If I didn't care about just throwing things out (but I know there are people who are living in poverty without these items and it feels awful to just throw them in a trash heap) it would be so much easier to clear the clutter. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this issue, physically or psychologically? Also, the perpetration of 'stuff' including fast fashion for example actually contributes to the problem of women and children in third world countries working in unsafe conditions for low wages, also taking work away from local communities and depressing the local economies. I see some people just throw out cheap clothes in the garbage and buy more cheap clothes. It's not good for anybody.
ОтветитьI’m literally standing in my garage preparing to tackle, and I say out loud, “time to see what minimal mom is up to” and this is the video!
ОтветитьTom sweeping the garage was great. LOL.
ОтветитьWild idea: I LOVE helping people organize their space (aka declutter). I would love to be on a list of people in my area who offer time if people want to hire a helper! I'm in northwestern lower Michigan near Traverse City. Have been doing this stuff for decades.
ОтветитьOne key message: avoid buying so much stuff. 👍
Lisa seems like a natural organizer, but just had too much inventory. She was SO ready to minimize. I'm so happy for her.
We haven't got a basement or a garage (it's an old terraced house in the UK) - our scary spaces are two cupboards under the stairs - one in the kitchen and one in the hallway.
I did take everything out of the kitchen one a few weeks ago and managed to make a bit of space to house stuff that was taking up floorspace in the kitchen - but ended up putting the bulk of it back in again as it was all over the kitchen and we needed to reset in order to eat and wash up etc.
Haven't done more than peer into the hallway one - there's no space to take everything out to sort it. Should have done it in the summer and taken everything into the garden to sort - but in England there's no guarantee it won't rain!
Maybe you could do a video about scary deep cupboards when you haven't got space to take everything out to sort it?
Does a man live there? I did not see man stuff anywhere? I would like to see you work with a man in a man's garage.
