Let’s take a step back and make astartes
Ответитьsuch as the what?
the queerass? i dont think so dude
Chinese warriors from 4000 years ago
"Hold my elaborate armor that won't be replicated for the next few millennia."
I love, how is basically like a game. They keep patching new weapons into the game, and armor, to counter that weapon. But when the gun got added, it was so overpowered, that the meta became glass canon light armor builds.
ОтветитьI always just figured the as weapons got more powerful the trade of of mobility for protection was no longer worthwhile
Ответитьthat was a really long tangent to not answer the question you gave a history lesson rather than just saying you cant do that because force is a bitch
ОтветитьThey went from “the best armour is a plate armour” to “the best armour is your buddy in front of you” 😂
Ответитьarmour evolved from padded armour to full plate reflecting both the increase in wealth and tecnology level
also evolved with weapons especially ranged ones like the longbow and the crossbow
at the end late medieval/rinascimental armour was so heavy that was essentially useless on foot and a literal death sentence if falling from your horse given that was nearly impossibile gettin up without help
it become extremely costly and relegated to the upper tier of the society/army
then gunpower changed all making suddenly armour essentially a liability in terms of mobility
so protection devolved back to partial armour usually to the torso or torax with the latest examples being the courassiers of the napoleonic era
after that aromour remain essentially decorative until tecnology become able to produce material resistent enough to protect from modern firearms and light enough to be worn without trasnforming soldiers in michelin mens mascottes
And when technology was advanced enough armor became a thing again.
My poor back...
Everybody and their momma acts tough carrying around their arquebus until I show up wearing my "queer ass."
ОтветитьCan we make Obsidian Armor?
ОтветитьIts a cycle. Cool new weapon is made, cool new armor is developed to protect from cool new weapon. Cool new weapon is made to defeat cool new armor and so forth until it starts all over again.
ОтветитьSo basically the answer is they could of but they didn’t want to pay for it
Ответить“Queerass” ☠️
ОтветитьCuirass was effective even during muskets era, it just was not effective against 100 muskets shots all at once flying in your general direction or, you know, cannon shots.
In a very dumb and tecnical way, armor is effective even now against smaller arms, turns out that multiple layers of steel and padding between you and things that want to harm you helps you getting less harmed, the problem is that multiple assault rifle rounds hits will still kill you no matter what you are realistically wearing. Anti balistic shields nowadays are a good example of resilent armor that can sustain a lot of punishment before they start failing.
I love seeing the desperate attempts at early body armor they are pretty laughable there are examples that work but the reality of it was that you just aren’t gonna stop a quarter pound projectile going 800 meters per second very easily
ОтветитьFeels like a 1400/1410 mark in the era would’ve also been good for that chart in the early part.
ОтветитьQueerus?
ОтветитьIsn’t the final solution to bring full body armor back just inventing cost effective power armor
Ответитьanother reason is mobility, a heavy armor would make you significantly slower, bulker and probably a bigger target. the armored titan is a good example, his armor maybe strong from cannons (except at season 4), but he needs to destroy the platings that covers his calves to run faster to bust into the gates of a wall
ОтветитьIt takes intelligence to use armour a simple twist without proper footing could spell Doom. Ironically this is a.typical argument that Armour could of taken over; it could, no one wanted to wear it cloth is comfort check your motive not just your means.
ОтветитьYou forgot about bulletproof vests
ОтветитьWhy didn't they just make portable walls to uses as shield for advancement? Like a big wall on front of what would essentially be the car from the flintstones? So a bunch of men could hide behind it whilst advancing.
ОтветитьDirty thoughts
ОтветитьSo basically it all came down to an arms race. Armor-smiths and weapon-smiths reacting to each other’s inventions until they went full circle.
ОтветитьI wish we could go back to using swords.
Would make American schools more interesting
You lost some credibility at “chain mail”.
ОтветитьBasically. You couldn't make an invicible armor because someone will always find something to beat your ass.
ОтветитьAnd today we put layer on top of layer on top of layer on top of layer and call it a ballistic vest and it's heavier than any knight's armor ever.
Ответить"what happened to armor"
"Guns"
“He’s got crossbow lineups on field don’t push”
ОтветитьAnd now we have gone back to armor slowly, beginning in WW1 with the introduction of helmets to protect from shrapnel, and field modifications where soldiers strapped plates to their chest which hung around till the end of Korea and then by Vietnam body armor was re-introduced with the invention of Kevlar which has only gotten better into the modern day where soldiers are once again wearing body armor protecting the head, chest, and shoulders depending on what type of plate system is used. Ironic
ОтветитьWhy do these videos always stop at the invention of the gun? Modern ballistic armour is just the continuation of the arms Vs armour race yet it's always ignored.
ОтветитьCould you imagine the sheer shock if people from the 1700's could see the height of our technology now😂
ОтветитьWait, that's how cuirass is pronounced?
Damn 20 years of only ever me saying it, has just been me shattered. My life is a lie
Evolved into regression, armor would have been some nice buffer against bayonets
ОтветитьIt kind of was. If you lock at later Italian plate Amor it was almost impossible to penetrate for arrows. They where killed by shooting in gabs almost exclusively
ОтветитьAnd now our gunman wear armor again! What a fun little loop
ОтветитьGod damn guns ruined all the fun
Ответить“Sir, armor is getting expensive to produce, and we have to send our men into battle”
Looks at parade outside
“I have an idea”
In order for the armour to stop bullets, 1 plate should reinforce the other as multiple plates or scales shuffle along each muscle contraction rather than just the joints
ОтветитьDamn that set of plate mail is pretty awesome looking lol
ОтветитьMaking armor that can stop ANYTHING isn't really practical. Our ability to turn one another into bloody ribbons far exceeds our ability to prevent that. It's better to have a little bit of protection where it counts the most, versus building a giant tungsten suit so heavy that it takes a crane to move. Guard the fleshy bits in your chest cavity, get as much of your head and spine as you can without losing visibility or flexibility too much, and hope you've better intel than your opponent.
Ответитьand then ww1 came.
ОтветитьImagine running around in that thing, must be wet in there.
ОтветитьYou can only make something so effective to the point where someone is gonna get tired of it and find a workaround. Which is why its important to never let anything get captured. It will get re-engineered, and will be used against you
Ответить@thombas7437 no like actually what the fuck does his height have to do with anything???
ОтветитьNo one thought to use the hard porcelain or early ceramics 😈
ОтветитьI was so scared when he brought up guns that he was gonna say something like the usual "guns caused armor to disappear"🫣
Medival shorts/tiktok is a scary place man😅
