I wanted to hear about the privacy element which you completely ignored.

great review, but why not including Logseq in this comparison, which is basically a free roam research with local files compatible with the use of obsidian as well ? (and therefore its syncing option, mobile app, readwise integration…)

I’m coding my own app because these apps don’t have nothing new. I’m using power platform to build it.

Hey! Have you looked into Anytype yet? I would like to know your thoughts on it.

Please spend more time with the apps, using them for serious projects before making videos about them. This way we could see more valuable insights into their workflow. In a short 5 minute video, you are showing information that most people already know, or else could easily find out by looking at the landing page for the apps or trying a free trial.

Really tough to do any product real justice in < 5mins. In all honesty, other than the pricing and the mention of backlinks, the video was a little poor. Not your best work. You have done some other good video's but this one was simply poor, little value, no real detail on the different function etc. Just my opinion. I thought you might appreciate the constructive critism.

I'm using notion right now but am exporting my workspace every semester of university to prepare if the service goes down one day or I need to switch to obsidian. I also use less rich text formatting and stick to the basic markdown stuff. Because I know I will want to keep using the notes I have for the rest of my life.

I love all 3, but I do fear Notion (and to a certain extent Roam) will eventually become like Evernote and be left behind.

What features does Roam have that Obsidian does not have?

Free means bigtech backdoors, intentional system vulnerabilities, possibly govt. spyware...If that matters to you

Notion has its clear strenghts but I dont think it shines at PKM where you use a lof of text, which makes it clunky but is delicious to manage in Obsidian.

Havent tried Roam, I wish to do as soon as Im not broke anymore lmao

Notion is just perfect me. But I'll also look into roam.

Obsidian's privacy policy: you own your stuff or it's E2E encrypted via Sync. Notion's and Roam's privacy policy: trust us.

Obsidian: future proof because it is saved in plaintext, locally or on cloud storage
