Looking for just a build list to build a retro gaming pc that can handle anything in windows 98. Do you happen to have a build list for this machine?
ОтветитьNo ZIP or JAZ drive? 😂😂😂
ОтветитьAntec Super Lanboy was my favourite pc case of all time
ОтветитьDespite its faults, 98 was the best os microsoft ever made
Ответитьwhat's the door on the bottom of the fro t of the case for
Ответитьuse the case fans as well for air flow... and maybe upgrade the vid card with a
Ответитьthatcard also had a light for it build in
ОтветитьLian Li was king of cases- you were bad ass if you had one. I was an idiot and sold it off with a OC'd P4 1.8GHZ running 2.4 on a simple Swiftech heatsink. I still have a Coolermaster Praetorian 730 and a Black Widow (?) case. I also have a slightly newer Lian Li case from the mid 2010's just not as nice as the one shown here.
Ответить98' was not too bad. I used 98 Lite from the longest time. Really resisted going to Windows 2000.
ОтветитьSaw the original before this one and I'm glad he moved the cards a bit away from the voodoo3.
ОтветитьNeed the Coolermaster Cool Drive 4 for fan control :)
ОтветитьMan, I love that case! I know this is an old video (don't really expect a reply but it would be very appreciated!) I keep seeing that lovely NEC white flatscreen monitor you have... I want to find one if at all possible. Does it have a model number or some sort of name I could follow to possibly find one? If so, would be really grateful if you could let me know!
ОтветитьYou rebuild computers like HOT RODs. You are Never Satisfied.
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure you can directly plug a PWM 4-pin fan into a 3-pin header without any sort of interface. The little alignment notch on the fan connector is aligned in such a way that it would cinch up to a 3-pin header even if the fourth pin isn't present.
ОтветитьSeeing a DVD drive and a 5.25 inch floppy drive in the same computer feels odd, but it's absolutely something I would try to do and I commend you for making it work here.
🤯
Act like you care. Act like you don't care. It's still cooool.
ОтветитьPlease what is the model and spec of the lcd monitor 🙏🏻
ОтветитьDid you forget that you may have tortured the system a few times?
ОтветитьI never used the PCI slot nearest the AGP slot on those VIA-based motherboards. Not for thermal reasons (although that's a very good reason) but because this PCI slot shares its IRQ with the AGP slot. Properly behaved drivers should support IRQ sharing but I never trusted that to be the case.
ОтветитьAh yes, a red light for indicating things…love it
Ответитьthe black components ruin it
ОтветитьPlay CALL of DUTY 1
ОтветитьYES!!! May you never stop doing builds & making video's. LGR Forever!!!
ОтветитьI'm going to be making a channel like yours clint. It will be awesome
ОтветитьMy dad built an XP machine in the early 2000s for my family to use at home and it had the same case as this haha
Ответить"Knock on woodgrain"
ОтветитьWhy did you choose 20MB/s SCSI instead of 100MB/s IDE/UDMA?
Fun Fact: A few weeks ago i decided to build a Win98 retro-pc. I bought some components and assembled together a nice P3 800, 512MB RAM, an ATI 9250 and a WD Velociraptor SATA disk via a SIL3512 controller (SSD didn't work), in the exact same case as you did, except mine is black. Protip: To get to the cd-rom drives simply take off the top, it's secured with four screws.
Didn't know about the IDE-SD/CF adapters before seen this video(s) of your win98 build, so i ordered one (CF) as well as an IDE/SATA adaptor
case is epic
ОтветитьI love the idea of getting it to run off sata.
I Installed Windows 10 32-bit on an atom single core Acer Aspire REVO R1600 with 2GB RAM for all my retro gaming needs. Did you know Windows 10 32-bit still has built-in backwards compatibility with 16-bit programs and games? Check out NTVDM if you haven't already.
The IDE to SATA thing might be a good idea for my 98 project box. I was going to go with an SD slot solution but that sounds more interesting and homogenous.
Ответитьthe case looks ugly!!!!
ОтветитьGlad you moved the soundcards away from the graphics card, I cringed a bit when I watched the previous video :D
ОтветитьDude bro. Can you do Robot Odyssey or what
Ответитьsmells like old fonts
ОтветитьI'm dreaming of one of those Megaluminum cases, turning it into a pre-Windows MS-DOS 3.3H machine (8088-1). I'd finally have 5.25", 3.5", and CD-ROM all in one machine. My Vendex Headstart LX-CD didn't come with a 5.25", which at that time wasn't always convenient; my uncle had to copy a driver for something (either the printer or the hand scanner) from its original 5.25" disk to a 3.5" HD floppy.
When we upgraded to a 486, we finally had a 5.25" drive, but about the only time I used it was to transfer the Wolfenstein 3D Shareware installation disk to 3.5" floppy. Now, I'm finally reacquiring the proper boxed copies of games rather than the pack-in shovelware CD-ROM, and I need a 5.25" drive again (this was that other question I mentioned in email).
when do you do new lgr plays episodes, lots of build building but no games^^
ОтветитьLGR did a very smart thing by hiding his soldering... hehehe.
ОтветитьYou could easily do an entire video on the history of fan-controllers. I remember when I first heard about them they were a mystery to me. Did I need one? Would it make things cooler? Would it make things quieter? Did my MB already have one? Is this why I kept burning out my power supplies (spoiler: no)?!?
ОтветитьI still use the same case now, modded it a few years ago to accept a Corsair AIO H80i!
ОтветитьDude, I realize that the cloud background you have is something many people used, but if you want real nostalgia, it needs a Sarah Michelle Gellar background. Everyone I knew then had one.
ОтветитьI would love to see the faceplates panted a silver tbh
ОтветитьI LOVE that raised LGR sticker in the corner!!!
ОтветитьFlames on black will forever be known as Guy Fieri pattern.
ОтветитьUp at 2am playing old videogames, I know that feel man.
Never change Clint, you're one of the good ones. Also love the unscripted relaxed vibe.
Little Protip. Soldering the LED header on the SCSI2SD card was not necessary. Most Adaptec SCSI cards (including the one you are using) already have the LED connection on the card. If you look at the SCSI card while installed, to the right of the 50 PIN SCSI cable connector there are four pins. These are for your HDD LED activity. Your case LED cable only uses two pins, so you use two of the four....the two closest to the 50 PIN SCSI cable connector.
The benefit of using the LED header on your card is that you will get LED activity for every drive connected to the SCSI bus. Nothing wrong with using the header on the SCSI2SD mind you, but you are limited to just seeing the activity from that only....and you have to take a solder iron to that card which again was not necessary ;)
nice chassis
ОтветитьYou can get 2.5" ide ssd drives, kingspec brand. OR ide to msata OR ide to m.2. All 44pin so you'd need an adapter to 40pin. I'd do any of those rather than flash card adapters that like to corrupt at a sneeze.
ОтветитьThe pipe screensaver reminds me of my middle school, good times
ОтветитьHey Clint! Your vids have inspired me to want to build my own retro PC from the era of my childhood, the 90's so I can play games from a time I never got to experience. Do you or anyone here in the community have a good place to point me to get started? Any tips? Do's and Don'ts? Maybe a Reddit to sub to?
ОтветитьThats one sweet Lian Li case! Im using a similar looking antec case for my PIII Geforce 256 win98 PC!
