Babies are born not knowing racism or hate or any of that. It is a problem taught by adults.

Oh, that’s rich — “White children will feel uncomfortable.” But those same adults have no scruples about making little Black children feel uncomfortable.

The other thing that fights against conservative efforts to erase and re-write history is the natural curiosity of children. Children have a way of knowing when they’re being lied to, when things don’t add up. And then they’ll go looking for answers. And when they do, they are going to confront the people who lied to them, who covered up the existence of people like Ruby.

Harry Stack Sullivan, “Father of American psychiatry“ wrote, “We’re all more alike than otherwise.”
Ignorant, self-important A-holes like DeDantis, is don’t recognize well-adjusted children feel EMPATHY, not “guilt,” when learning about bigotry.
If Ron had any understanding of his own Italian heritage, he’d know Italians were considered dirty…Degos…WOPS (without papers), and several other epithets, in many cities.
DeSantis is evidence of a pathetic waste of an Ivy League education.

It's ridiculous and offensive to change what is taught about American history, for fear of white kids being offended. You know who is REALLY offended? White parents who want to continue to enjoy their privilege.

This is nice story for race relations, but! Black people whose families were legally enslaved by this country still suffer trillions of dollars of lost wealth that we built for this country.

I think what strikes me in listening to Ruby Bridges is the contrast of the question I've been asked by white people--how long will it take blqck people to get over slavery? Well--here sits Ruby, in our lifetime, sharing her story of racism in America. The impacts of slavery carry on, for generations, and until and unless we fully address and reckon with this disease, we will never. Let me be clear for those in the back, NEVER get over the implications of slavery, racism, and ethnic hatred. That's how long!

After the second viewing I listened to what she had to say =] may your ideas spread wide and far across America as we dare to continue to stitch, glue, bond and weld this patchwork country together.

It pains me that we fought so hard to get an education, and people like her had to endure such hatred for the simple right just to go to school, and some black kids today just throw that away, would rather go out and carjack and rob someone, rather than get an education that might give them the tools to better their lives.

My mom was named, Ruby. As a child, seeing you being escorted into school gave me great courage. I was about 6 years old. I am the first black court reporter in my home town to graduate from court reporting school, then attempt to integrate the judicial system. I too was the only black in class, and did ultimately graduate. Since starting my own business over 40 years ago, and being the first ever to bid on contracts in my state, I have been assaulted in the judicial system, and there have been several attempted murders. Racism still exists. Keep the faith!

It's so.true, racism is an adult disease. When I went to day care there were children of different countries. My Mom admitted to me in my 20's when she dropped me off at elementary school for my first day and saw all the kids she was nervous because she hadn't seen so many kids from that many backgrounds before. I had no problems, she relaxed. I told.he about Jagdeep, she didn't he was a kid in my class. She asked what a Jagdeep was, I said he's a boy in my class. My parents are not racist, they both grew up in majority white communities. My Dad was in the Marine Corps and my Mom grew up in populous multicultural area in Canada. When she started working in nursing when we moved back to Canada, she worked with immigrants from Eastern Europe, Philippines, and the Caribbean. My Dad played pick up basketball with many of the same. It was nothing to us. Two of my best friends in high school, immigrant from Ghana and first generation from Pakistan. I just wish the rest of the world could see people as people. You don't know what you are missing.

I’m white and grew up in a very white household. Thankfully in middle school I was allowed to go to school and not be homeschooled. I had a black math teacher at that school that taught us black history and had us watch this movie and took us to an all black school. I’m so incredibly thankful to her for that because I got zero black education in my home. I remember absolutely loving the Ruby Bridges movie she showed us. Thank you Mrs. Freeman! ❤

500 kids left the school!!! Folks, listen AMERICA IS RACISM! The hate this country has for the now African Americans, but formerly enslaved Africans that they the WHITES BROUGHT HERE, is beyond measure. AND NOW, they just gaslight everyone that everything is fair and its not. Many schools are still segregated by class division now. It will never be fair in the USA. Sorry to tell you, because the hate they have for us is too massive. Meanwhile all we did was build this country and make them rich and they hate us because WE SURVIVED their hate, grape, beatings, lynchings, everything!! We are strong beyond measure and they know it. And we invented many things(google it) so thats why they hate us.
