John Craven was really an amazing man but I am not sure if he ever fully realised that the missile defence system was merely a smoke screen to cover up an economic warfare campaign to bankrupt Russia and bring down the USSR. They didn’t have any resources left to match the new Star Wars defence research program. Ironically the capitalist model benefited from the extra defence spending and was strengthened unlike the communist economic model. 😊
