It's a fine built structure, but the dog has no understanding of that. He just knows he doesn't get to be part of your "pack" and be inside the house.

I like the build but I donßt like that you keep the dog in there. Way too small even just for minutes, it´s like a prison. If you train dogs properly, they can stay out every day and just use the house for shelter if needed.

I love your project but I need to suggest one thing. The plywood ceiling needs to be painted or stained so as to not have moisture nor mildew.

So amazing! Nice to see people providing such lovingly created shelter for their doggy do!

Just a few questions/thoughts...
1) Why such a huge dog door into the "house" area?
2) Why no flap on dog door into "house" area to keep wind and cold out?
3) why so much space, like an entire second floors worth of upper space to the "house" area? I've always read a dog house shouldn't be very much bigger than the dog (at full growth size). This is so the dog feels cozy and warm, because his body heat and the house insulation work together to "heat" his house. With so much open space above dogs head, and with reality that Heat Rises, add to that the huge open hole of a dog door, seems the dog will never be able to get cozy snug and warm in the house despite the exquisite insulation you provided.
If there were a second floor, a simple platform of an area for the dog, well that'd be the place this dog would find a super warm and cozy area.
Straw is a wonderful fluffy addition to the inside of the house for many reasons; it doesn't absorb water or mold like hay does, often dogs like to burrow into it for snuggle factor and it provides a cozy fluffy appeal.

It really is a beautiful house for a beautiful dog.
Personally though I strongly feel dogs belong in the house with the family. Dogs are very social beings, they thrive on the companionship and bond they create with humans. But if a dog is to be outside away from the family, a house like this at least provides quality and beautifully built shelter from the elements.

Maybe consider getting another doggy for him/her do she doesn't have to live isolated and all alone??

Two things: Never keep a choke chain on your dog, and dogs do not belong outside by themselves no matter how beautiful their "house" is. They are social animals that live in packs, so they belong WITH their pack, inside, or you're asking for behavioral problems. I know, vet tech 16 yrs, dog trainer for 8.
