Profound! The only thing that would've made this exercise more complete would have been if in the classroon of children, there were actual black children who experience the effects of discriminatory indoctrination thrust upon them in society. I would have loved to see their confidence increase during the exercise proving to them that they DO also have brilliant minds and their potential is limitless. I love Jane Elliott. Her work is so important.

The experiment done in the correctional facility was very smart. I wondered how it would affect them. The lady who didn’t put her name on the paper didn’t get the lesson fully. She complained that everyone has experienced discrimination. A person of color lives that every moment of their lives.

What's messed up is how much of a fit people would throw if kids went through this experiment today.

This is how children should be taught. She was an excellent teacher .God bless her .

AND….. We don’t use this, even though this is obviously proven to help with racial problems. Which is a complex issue that needs a lot of attention! Everyone needs this experience to get the perspective they possibly never will get. And the sooner the better. Children are like sponges. The fact we don’t use it in the school system is outrageous, and it proves there are deeper reasons we don’t, because some don’t want it fixed.

We are a disgusting society that still fights and goes to war over gender, skin color, religion, and whag continent your born on. A society that I choose not to be apart of. I throw the old ways in the garbage.

This was fascinating! I can honestly say as a white man, I have gone through many situations of prejudice. It started when I was a child, being German, in an African Country, I was constantly bullied for mentioning my heritage. Then, in my teenage years, bullied for being gay. And in my early adult life, racism towards me being a white man and in a minority group. People are so sadly intolerant towards other people who seem abnormal. And I have learned how to be more resilient and compassionate through my tribulations.

Pretty much brainwashed her kids into hating each other based off their eye color to push an unethical human experiment

Scary how easily kids get indocrinated
Same things happened in nazi Germany and now the left is doing it teaching CRT and that boys can be girls and vise versa

This was just brilliant (and she'd never get away with it now, in the age of coddling feelings). The one thing she could have driven home more was to interrogate them about how and why they went along with being bigots so easily and how hard it is to go against the group pressure to gang up on others. One of the kids tried to resist and wilted when he was confronted by others. That's the hardest thing--you may know what's right but standing up against others to assert it.

So, Jane has learned from the way black people "act" and treated in society and came up with an experiment to make white people feel like black people? Turning the tables? So, subjecting non blacks to what blacks are going through is the experiment, OK. But are non blacks saying they are oppressed? Are non blacks saying they are victims? This experiment shows that blacks are saying all these things in Jane's experiment? Just a little confused on what this is trying to prove. Could sum this all up and say, do not judge someone by the color of their skin. Racism and showing prejudice toward someone of a different color is wrong. I think.

Can't do this in 2023. The loving parents would go crazy.

I had a headteacher during my Primary School years who taught us about discrimination in a similar way to Jane. I'm 39 now and still haven't forgotten, just happy she taught us
