I used to live in the city where parking was difficult... so I frequently parked illegally. I always left my trunk open and the engine running and the parking enforcement guys usually just left me alone. probably just assumed that I was nearby and would run out... (engine running, but I had a transmission lock that was bolted to the floor of the car)
