Yeah well I've been overlanding in a 2001 Volvo XC70, a 2000 Suzuki Vitara, a 2011 Subaru Outback, a 1978 Land Rover Series III 109 and my current overlanding vehicle is a 1999 Land Rover Defender Td5 110. We've been out both summer, autumn and winter.

You do NOT need to spend a lot of money to enjoy traveling and exploring the world.
Just get a decent car with some ground clearance, give it a service, mount some good tires, get a cheap cooler box, a gas powered kitchen and a sleeping bag and get out there! 😃

So basically the car companies paid you to push their vehicles. The last 3 are not even an option for long range overlanding. The earthroamer is too big if you want to get off the beaten path. It will also count as an RV and alot of places have much stricter rules for them. The range rover will break down before you even get started. The only viable contender on this list is the 4runner. Honestly im surprised its on this list, considering the new hummer and ford bronco would pay better to be on this video.

And The Guys with a Land Cruiser in their Driveway get a good Laugh

The tacoma is way more diverse with add ones and aftermarket parts specifically for over landing compared to all those other trucks. Excluding the 4runner ;).

I had a 2004 LR D2. With the newer looking head lights. I loved it. I took it off roading on weekend. Normal driving in 4-low, and pulled over to park it. Come to start it and wouldnt start, the oil pump gears had blown up and shattered and was wedging on the crank shaft preventing the motor from turning over. I put new gears in it and sold it the next day, the guy that bought it drover straight to alaska from here in Ohio with no problems, rip

This author wears turtle neck short sleeve shirts and lives in Manhatten with his weird friends who have never done anything relevant in their life much less overland. Worst list ever.
