Hullo Jenna, I am a believer in creating a plan for my art. Drawing, sketching with paint, even if you just create a very simple layout will bring more successful finished artworks! I have noticed that you often have your pencil or brush held in your fist! Is this how you were taught? Have you had surgery? I was told to relax my grip and let the pencil or brush flow across the surface of my piece. I was even shown a 2 finger grip in a calligraphy class, I was just not good with that method, but holding my utensil more relaxed has enabled me to move and create in a more spontaneous way. I am just curious, I have been told that everyone is going to use what they feel works best for them! Reasoning for you? If you want to share, thank you for showing us all you do 😊

Preparation through sketching, is definitely a recipe for a more successful painting. I've been doing a lot more sketching of flowers recently. It opens up ideas for the final piece.
