ОтветитьThe problem is the work, especially when one has to cook the other food as well. So the question is: if one wants to make a large batch and freeze it, is it better to freeze the dough balls, freeze the final cooked flatbread, or try to freeze some half-baked flatbread, which will then be finished at home?
Supermarket stuff is not as good, but it's so much faster... ultimately time is of the essence. That's probably why I like bread. I do it once a week, and it is delicious throughout the week and readily available. When I have time to spare, I do some Indian roti with wholemeal flour. Very simple. But the "emergency recipe" in this video seems to be absolutely to try, for its easiness and rapidity.

ОтветитьVery nice selection. As a central American person whose people also have the flower tortilla in their cuisine, it is most gratifying to see that represented. One thing though, we don’t make it with olive oil. Nobody I know does that. Not the Mexicans, not the central Americans, nobody. In the old days, it was lard. Nowadays, people use butter, palm oil or some other vegetable oil that has a neutral flavor. Olive oil has two strong a flavor for this. Your tortilla should have a neutral flavor so that it doesn’t interfere too much with what you’re putting inside of it. Honestly though, I think all of you should try corn. Corn tortillas are the most delicious of all! It is, by far, my absolute favorite flatbread in the whole wide world. It is versatile, flavorful and easy to make. I’ve tried them all. The only one that comes close for me is Dosa. If you have never tasted a masala dosa, you have lost out on something wonderful in life. Third place is injera. The trouble with dosa and Injera is it they are both a lot harder to make.

ОтветитьI've always disliked wraps--mainly because flatbreads that hold together when rolled and folded are undercooked and taste like raw dough.
I'm sure this doesn't have to be the case, but my experience in the US has not been good.
To me--if it is called a 'flat bread', it might be ok--if it is called a 'wrap' it is disgusting!
i tried the quick Flatbread recipe just now.
with 1/2 cup of flour and 1 cup of water with salt and olive oil.
but the batter turned from the white liquid to a white jelly, that stuck to the pan like crazy!!
i used a nonstick pan with a little olive oil, but the olive oil was immidiately pushed to the side and i was lucky the batter didn't burn!
what did i do wrong!? q-q
