Why does this sound like it’s from the 50s. I’m 37 but I feel I have a connection with this melody 🎶. This song was the main love song of soldiers fighting in Viet Nam. They didn't know if they'd get back home alive, in a body bag, or in a wheelchair. When they got home they were attacked and disrespected by the hippie protestors who put blame and sins of war on them unrighteously. So to all my Viet Nam Vets God bless you and keep you, I know what you went through. And if you lost your girl while you were fighting and losing buddies in rice patties and jungles, I hope you got someone better with more character and heart when you finally got back.
