Even though Beverly D'Angelo's character Sharon was a bitch on wheels, I'm glad that she managed to find happiness and true love with Liam Neeson's character Martin (the fact that Neeson is sexy as hell certainly doesn't hurt!) just as Steve Guttenberg's character Jack found it with Daryl Hannah's character Mary.
There is one question which is never answered, however. In the film, Martin's last name is Brogan and Sharon's maiden name is Brogan as well. Granted, Brogan is not an unusual name in Ireland but both Martin and Sharon have ties to the Plunkett family -- Martin through marriage and Sharon through her father (she says at one point that her father has hated the Plunketts for a long time). Is it possible that Martin and Sharon are very distantly related? Since Martin is a ghost at the castle along with Mary, one is inclined to assume that he died there as well -- either because he committed suicide out of remorse or because Mary's family killed him in revenge. He probably isn't Sharon's great-great-great-grandfather...but it would have been one hell of a plot twist, a new variation of the I-went-back-in-time-and-fell-in-love-with-my-ancestor (AKA I'm-my-own-great-great-great grandfather) trope.
perfect couple. you should have added a scene where Sharon jumps out of a window to join her beloved in death.
ОтветитьSo loving these romantic couple videos from the movie! Keep up the good work! 🥰
