Hi Jonathan, I hope you see this post, 2 years after you did this test... Which summer tyre would you recommend (size 235/55/19) for a Kia Sorento PHEV? Most important to me are subjective comfort and noise levels, without giving up on wet and dry grip. Is the GoodYear Efficientgrip 2 SUV the one to go for? Any other suggestions? Which would you choose?

Is it OK to fit XL/reinforced tyres to an SUv such as a Mitsubishi Outlander?

Could you please compare SUV vs non SUV models? Does it make sense to fit a SUV tyre if car will be driving only in city?

My Genesis GV70 came with the Michelin Primacy AS. Very quiet. This test just confirmed that I will be buying the same tires when it's time to change them. Thank you for your scientific approach to this comparison.

We fitted a full set of Goodyear efficient grip tyres to a VAG suv 2 yrs ago and they were brilliant value, lasted almost 40k miles with rotation, and transformative to ride quality and braking. Highly recommended for all driving conditions

Why didn’t he test Continental or Pirelli???

I can understand why those brands didn't join in, each car will have an affect on which tyre would perform the best given they are in the top 4 brands it makes sense corporate

I have to wonder how this test can be unbiased. It is performed at the Goodyear test track and they supply the cars etc. How would they like it if you told them that their tyre was garbage? Also, I suspect that each manufacture have slightly different proving grounds which means that they will inherently develop tyres that are slightly different, and slightly better suited for each proving ground.

Just not sure what to make of this.

I know you guys are European, but you're missing a lot of popular truck tires that we use in the US. The Michelin Defender LTX for example.

How do you feel about goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 on an suv (discovery sport). I loved them on my audi A5

For Michelin, aquaplaning resistance isn't as important as Wet/Dry braking? In my opinion, they are entirely wrong.
I almost crashed 2 times due to aquaplaning, because I was almost always caught off-guard with aquaplaning (especially on motorways). On the other hand, while very important, braking distances can be managed by driving defensively (keeping a safe distance from the cars or obstacles ahead of us) and the difference between the premium tires won't matter as much.
For me, this is Michelin aiming to get the best scores possible in the tests, with the weight of each category in mind.

How many flats do you get while you are testing? I know it is a dedicated test center, but still, stranger things have happened...

I think that Michelin decided that the tread of the tire will be only 6.8 mm due to the desire to obtain low rolling resistance and thus lower fuel consumption approval values for manufacturers of new cars. I consider Goodyear's approach fairer, aquaplaning is one of the more common causes of accidents on motorways (at high speeds). the situation will worsen as the tire wears. Goodyear - winner, Michelin - shame on you.

I have found several manufacturers that offer different speed ratings for a particular tire at the same size. For instance, there is both a H rated and a V rated Efficientgrip 2 SUV in 235/55 R17. I am not sure which of those to buy.

Fantastic video, this has helped a lot. I've been looking for tyres for my VW T5 so as it's not going to be driven like a sports car, wet braking, wet handling and comfort are my priorities so the Uniroyal gets my vote. And there's not many tyres in the R20" bracket either but the Rainsport is available, thanks again.

Did you have the same tire pressure on all tires on the Tiguan? What pressure?

Great test. I am hesitating between the Goodyear EfficientGrip 2 SUV and the Goodyear Eagle f1 Asymmetric 5. The car is a RAV4 Hybrid AWD, size 235/55/18. I did not find a direct comparison, can anyone help

No Continentals? No Pirellis? Running Continentals on my Mazda6, in fact second set. Very pleased with the winter traction. Just bought a Telluride that is supposed to be fitted with Michelins. It was delivered with Pirellis. Terrible tires, handles in snow like there’s barely any tread left. Plan to install a pair of Michelin Cross Country 2’s before next winter. It’s a 2wd. Didn’t find what I was looking for in this video.

Goodyear tyres are made in the UK. Michelin in France ! ! Buy the British guys

The problem with the GY was that it begone to lose small pieces or rubber in the first 10k km, and the stripe of rubber near the outside side wall became like stairs. Now they have 55k km and are totally done.

I used it 100% on roads dry or wet according to the weather, with 20% on snow.

235-55-18 is not a popular size
