How to make Goan Savoury & Sweet Sannas, easily make Steamed Rice Cakes with this easy Recipe
►Sannas are soft and fluffy steamed rice cakes made with fermented batter of raw rice, coconut and other ingredients, Sannas are very popular in goa, and are enjoyed with sorpotel, vindaloo and many other curries, it is a must dish for most occasions
Sweet Sannas are made with the same batter, but coconut and jaggery mixture is added to make them sweet as known as godachi sannas in goa and are often enjoyed with tea
1 cup = 250 ml; Tbsp. = Tablespoon = 15 ml; tsp. = teaspoon = 5 ml
Ingredients:
2 cups Raw Rice
1 cup Grated Coconut
⅓ cup Sugar
Salt to Taste
Yeast Solution:
1 ½ tsp. Dry Yeast
2 tsp. Sugar
¼ cup Water (lukewarm)
For Sweet Sannas:
80g (½ cup) Jaggery (pounded)
½ cup Grated Coconut
Makes: 10 Sannas (5 Savoury, 5 Sweet)
Preparation Time: 45 mins
Note:-
Leftover Sannas:
Bring water to a boil in a steamer, place sannas on a plate and steam for about 5 to 8 minutes
