Larry is an excellent teacher!

I am self-taught watercolor enthusiast. 80 years old. I started in 2002 after open heart surgery I decided I wanted to learn to draw and paint. I picked watercolor for painting because I heard it was the hardest paint medium and if you got good at watercolor, you could do any other medium easy. Oil, pastel, acrylic, etc. I rated myself at 3 grade level and graded my work on a scale of 10. Just a few months ago, I decided I was at 7.8. I have done my 6th portrait. Before doing ondly landscapes. I am not quite there yet but I am getting there.

Great advice! I'm the 3rd type of artist, that is studying and it's changing my very naive style I once had, but I strive to paint better.

I just won an art prize and the judge a well known Aussi artist called Tim Storier said he did not like art that is copied from photographs. I dont use photographs because I dont know how to do this. All my art comes from my imagination. I was naive and thought all art should be original. What are your thoughts???
