Correction, again. It's an old Internet myth that the Final in Final Fantasy is there because of it was going to be Square's last game. In truth though, the only reason Final was within that franchise's name, is only because Square had to find a word that starts with the letter F at the start of it. Don't ask me why, I don't know why they needed an F-starting word in the game's name. I just know that's an old Internet myth you stated

Correction, Link is based on the DISNEY Peter Pan. Disney did not create the story Peter Pan, they only dummed-down the story so it'd be safe for kids to watch. In the original version of the story of Peter Pan, he wasn't so good. He actually murdered many people, to prevent them from growing up if I remember right. You can see why Disney changed the story for their movie adaptation of the story. Allot of old movies Disney was known well for, were actually dummed down from their original storybook counterparts. Cinderella for example, on the part of the story where the stepsisters tried to pose-off as the one the prince met who wore the glass slipper, one of them literally cut off one of their toes to try to get the shoe to fit on their feet. I'm not making this all up, Disney basically did to old storybook stories what 4Kids did to the various anime they dubbed, and heavily censored the story.

These "facts" weren't little-known for any gamer. And some of them were mit even correct.

Everyone gets the Mario thing wrong. They are turned into bricks, the blocks are made up of many bricks, Mario is actually saving them by breaking the block back into smaller bricks. Look up "gravity falls throne" for an idea of how this would work

Actually I think the Final Fantasy one is a myth. They couldn’t use the word “Fighting” so they used “Final” so they still had the alliteration.

There was a Popeye game pretty similar to DK, remember playing it in one of those old home computers you plugged into the TV. Game was also a climber, pretty similar, and if you got to spinach you could punch Brutus all around the screen

I’m so tired of the “Mario is a murderer” thing. Let’s face it, if people were turned into bricks, they aren’t still alive. Unless the manual went on to say there was a way to reverse this process, then the blame falls entirely on whoever kidnapped everyone and transformed them. End of story.

I remember reading an interview once saying that they wanted something catchy, and that 'Efu-Efu' sounded cool, and 'Fainaru' was also a well-known term from english language, so they went with 'Final Fantasy'.

The one about final fantasy is a urban legend , square just thought that FF sounded cool so they decided to do a game called: fighting fantasy, but that name was taken so they decided to call it final fantasy instead so yea, not true

Meanwhile the real reason Final Fantasy got it's name, is because they wanted alliteration in the title, and Fighting Fantasy was already the title of a pen & paper rpg series. That seems like an egregious error on the part of Simon, or whoever wrote this list.
