Imagine a super rich NBA G league team owner convinced Lebron James $200mill to play in the G league instead of NBA. Would you pay money to watch him play against minor league players in minor league arenas with minor league attendance? Me neither........but good for Lebron I guess.

Football aside, I can't imagine living in Saudi Arabia or anywhere in Gulf countries must be very enjoyable. Sometimes all the money of the world still isn't worth it. The Saudi league is so mediocre that even locals do not watch it which tells us about the popularity and quality of this league.

If you ask yourself why Saudi wants to invest on most popular sport. It might be fear of future generations of other Muslims country which fade on thier believes.

It´s transferred there because of the money, you can´t just have a sport on steroids = money. Football belongs in England, Spain, Italy and countries like Germany and the samba South America.

I think Saudi Arabia has come a long way in recent times and things are improving in terms of rights. One example is that women can now drive. I have also seen men and women going to the same restaurants and cafes together. The Saudis seem to really love stand up comedy too. The country is liberalising however the pace of change is still quite slow.

This is a league where players can make buckets of money for a few more games before retiring.

The thing is if you go in Saudi to play you just do it for the money, there is no other reason. There is no stake, winning or losing is whatever and meaningless, no legacy or passion, stadiums half empty, life is super limited for obvious reasons in a place that has nothing other than plastic luxury entertainment and desert. It's a lot to sacrifice for just money

Footballers who moved there found out that they don't just enjoy high wages, they need their booze, parties and ho's as well. Whatever one thinks of the Saudi Pro League, it does not exactly reflect well on the footballers.
