I understand that you wanted someone to take the bike to make a better story. So you used the easiest lock to break. Use a better lock, double lock it, the tracker was a good touch. But also remove the battery if possible… so unless they’re putting the bike in a car and driving off, they won’t be able to get far. Also if someone does take your bike and you track it atleast have the police with you to retrieve it.

Here in California, they steal a lot too. I've had about 8 mountain bikes and 4 laptop PCs stolen from me, (over the time span of about 15 years).
