Nilou is the type of character that if you simp hard for her, you get good values. If not, then you get mid results.

With key and 2pc 2pc my nilou can hit 88k hp

My favourite nilou team is: alhaitham,nilou,xingqiu,baizhu

nilou barbara collei dmc carried me to ar 50, it felt awkward to play other archetype, especially with a hyper carry.

would wanna try her teams but the gear requirements is so ridiculous to get full em on 3 units I don't think it's worth farming with the abysmal drop rates for em mainstats

My Nilou team does 35k blooms, and the blooms go off like 3 per second and sometimes even higher in big aoe packs

my other abyss team is a xiao team and my plan for my nilou is yao yao, dendro traveler, and yelan

I do think Yaoyao made Nilou a lot more bearable for me (got her and Key during her debut banner), and gave some use for my Xingqiu by throwing in my would-be Thoma artifacts before sticking him to Diluc duty (fuck CW RNG); enough to allow me to clear the new Abyss Cycle at least before triple Kenki (I'm confident she can, but my Noelle deletes those 3 like butter).

As for how it works....yeah, Nahida still tops it. While it's possible to argue that she's better now, the care for artifacts shifts when running a Nahida-less Nilou but ultimately it won't be far off from building other units or frankly, just building Hyperbloom and Burgeon triggers while building the personal DPS of your off-fielders (Thoma is a bit of an exception when it comes to his required stats, as his base scalings don't cover anything he needs be it for Burgeon or shield strength; but with Yaoyao and Baizhu coming this becomes somewhat moot, or if you're running Kokomi). The artifacts I made for my EM Xingqiu were tailored for Thoma so the 177% ER I had jumped to 212 with a Xiphos Moonlight R1 (which adds to the layers of improbability some might have). Depending on who you're running and how willing you are to run and pull for Nahida, Nilou's value will follow.

Overall, Nahida-less Nilou has as much value as Shinobu and/or Thoma in terms of overall DPS and higher when you don't mind getting Nahida (ignoring the amount of build tailoring you'd do for the main on-fielder and Hydro triggers). Just note that her investment lies in primos (for characters) rather than typical resin and talents, the latter which while giving a lower floor for others also grants them a ceiling higher than Nilou's f2p options.

I like playing a hydro DPS with my C2 Nilou teams, so you get boost from that C2

I don't mind that they've started going the niche route for character balancing as opposed to constantly making characters that work with a shit ton of teams. This to my eyes prevents characters from stepping and imposing on one another's roles and potentially powercreeping them and rendering previous or upcoming units completely irrelevant. If you were to constantly release Sucrose/Kazuha variants for example, eventually one of them is going to have such an overlap with another's kit that in 90% of scenarios it wouldn't be smart to use one of them anymore.

One of the biggest issues Honkai had was new characters- DPS and supports constantly having to output better numbers than the last to sell. It's created an environment where virtually all of the units from years ago have no value to exist anymore.

Nilou having such a unique interaction with bloom solidifies her as the AoE Bloom specialist and nothing more, so there wouldn't be a risk of her simply being better than another alternative in a non-bloom team.

So i was messing around and you can use sac sword to have both her hydro ring and her hydro infusion stance active at the same time. does anyone know if this has any use? eg, for extra hydro app if you have no one better to on field.

I thought too to a passive like Yelan or Yunjin to count number of char per element.

Outside of maybe fridge, I don't think any comp would be better than pure hydro/dendro anyway. Adding an Anemo will bring too much hydro app and restrict you to have onfield Nahida, and Yelan might add more DPS than an anemo char (3rd hydro being Kokomi for healing so not a high damage char). VV isn't great for dendro so I don't think anemo char would be such an upgrade. For Electro, I know the mecanic but I'm not an expert so I can't tell.
The team restrictions isn't that annoying especialy with Nahida, since usually Nahida + Nilou are such a strong duet, any other unit is a bonus.

I don't see how letting players play more teams is a downside for mihoyo. That just encourages players to spend more on more units. Instead, limiting units to specific teams like Nilou does only makes players spend less. After all, if you want to add/ change your Nilou team, then the new unit must meet the Limitation of either hydro or dendro first, which discourages sales

Unfortunately I don't have Kockmi so I will have to use Yao or even Barbruh for the healer slot then XQ for damage reduction and ton of hydro but I would only consider 3 hydro when I got my C1 Nahida, I'm like 10 pull away

Hopefully I got my C2 on her next rerun while I'm saving for Hydro archon. Baizhu and kaveh looks cool but honestly, I don't need no man in my girls only party

Nilou is very fun but very odd. I do think Nahida is a prerequisite for her though, like you can use her without Nahida but the difference is huge. But if you have Nahida already, and you are an agent of chaos, join the exploding onion army. Klee will never outlive the trauma of never being able to be on the true explosion team.

That being said, I think Nilou’s burst is so sad. It does damage. That’s it. Really wish it had some type of utility besides I-frames

I feel like hoyo is lacking on the kit side of things nowadays (granted if they aren't purposefully making a character weaker and locking their potential behind cons and weaps). I never realized the potential we missed out on like fridge teams and being able to bring a grouper (since I don't think we're getting a hydro or dendro grouper soon) up until zajef discussed it here. I know in beta testing people give the devs their insight but even then look at what happened to dehya, they just completely nerfed her to oblivion..

I see what you mean and I understand how restrictive her passive is, but I pulled her back in October, I don’t have nahida and she still does LOADS of damage with the blooms… she’s good if you really want her but going for nahida is better if you don’t have her as she is so much more versatile. I don’t like the 4 stars so I don’t know if I’ll go for nahida this time.

Any general guideline who'll more likely to proc bloom reaction on Nilou team? I plan to use 2 hydro + 2 dendro with Nahida, Yaoyao, Yelan / Xingqiu / Candace since I don't have Kokomi yet. I wonder if any character needs EM build besides Nahida.

ngl i didn't care about nilou when she first came out like many others, but after playing her story, and her scenes in the archon quest, i've become overloaded with her cuteness that I just have to pull and make a team for her

Nilou is a lot smarter than people give her credit for. She was able to win a debate with an akedemia higher up. I'd say that makes her pretty intelligent. She's just a bit of a scatterbrain who spaces out a lot. But that's what I love about her <3

Nilou is fine in terms of playstyle, design etc and I like her but I won't pull for her bc screw you Restriction Impact for making such bs passive. Nilou is the best example of what unit shouldn't be like, even Gorou, who plays only in monogeo and provides def who wants noone except geo and Xinyan, far less restrictive than her.

I didn't like how the "3rd hydro" in the triple hydro version was basically just briefly alluded to. I would've liked to know if there are differences between them and which are better in what kind of situations.

All I really got from that specific sub-section of the team overview was "candace is good".
