OMG, your parents are rock stars! We are also in our 50s, we have an 11-year-old daughter and we are going to move in a couple of years to Spain (we lived 22 years in LA and now we live in TX). So there, our generation (your parents and mine) is younger, more daring, and more detached from an eternal "stable life" than our own parents born in the 40s. So cheers to change because that's what life is about... at any age, no stereotypes.

I know there were low financial barriers to moving to Portugal, less money needed for papers, permits, etc. but given that they clearly have fluency in Spanish, why not Spain over Portugal? Portuguese is learnable but they have the language and cultural awareness in Spain. Just a bit puzzled.

in my 60s , I am in the PNW. Plan to move from Oly Pen to perhaps Sisters area , maybe , not sure yet. Your parents are fun, flexible in attitude and fluid. This is how they stay so youthful and vibrant. They are adorable. They have proven that they are responsible, now they want to play more. Mom is right, possessions can weigh you down and can own you, or not.

Loving your channel… I spend my youth living in Europe… I returned last year for a visit… I still think myself as a European with Canadian bias… but so crowded now… I’m going back but to rural France and avoiding cities like Paris and London !!
