What I really like in this scene was Zack telling Cloud to finish off Sephiroth. Despite Sephiroth being op as shit. No matter what, take the fucker out. That's courage even in a situation where the enemy could kill you by looking at you. No matter what, he ain't leaving the facility. And cloud accomplished the mission. He may have been living Zacks memories and impersonating a famed SOLDIER. But he is THE hero who defeated Sephiroth in the first encounter. Cloud is an unsung hero of that incident. An avenger.

At this point, Cloud is like x10 times weaker than Zack, and like x30 times weaker than Sephiroth. I really don't see how "rage" would justify him being able to even wield the Buster Sword and throw Sephiroth, but it's japanese fantasy so I guess it makes sense.

It’s funny how Cloud was the smartest one when it came to approaching septh. Nice and sneaky until stab. Zack on the other hand has to hell his name and put his blade on his neck.

Had to come back and see this after seeing how Crisis Core Reunion handled this fight. Needless to say I'm disappointed. This movie handled it much better. No censorship, no half assing the violence and brutality of this conflict and Cloud just dangling over the edge of the reactor only to be forced to impale himself further on Seph's blade to get footing just hits harder for me. I also like Sephiroth willingly jumping into the void more than Cloud tossing him in. It shows more clearly that Sephiroth's mental health and sanity had completely vanished at this point. He just wanted that motherly love he was deprived from as a kid and was so destroyed from the events that had transpired between him Genesis and Angeal that he just wanted everything to end. I get people like Cloud winning through human strength but you need to understand something. Sephiroth is beyond EVERYONE here. The ONLY reason Cloud won was the only reason why he won in Advent Children and OG FF VII. Because tunnel vision and the fact Sephiroth is lazy as all hell. If Sephiroth didn't suffer from pure tunnel vision and was purely blood lusted Tifa would be dead, Zack would've died two swings in and Cloud, despite his rage boost from everything he lost, would've died the moment he ran up that tube to try and stab Sephiroth from behind. Everyone loves to downplay how powerful Sephiroth is but Sephiroth is basically a fully realized Anakin Skywalker fully embracing the Dark Side. You aren't beating someone like this. That's why Nomura gave him his flaws. It was the group's only saving grace. So Cloud picking Sephiroth up and tossing him aside when we literally just saw him rag dolling Cloud EVEN WITH his stab wound is just bad story writing and doesn't make sense in terms of in universe power scaling. Sephiroth jumping into the void is way more realistic and believable. Not to mention tragic.

So Cloud has more potential than Zack in terms of swordsmanship, is that correct? I can't remember the name of that mobile game, but Zack mentions how much of a natural Cloud is with a regular blade.

This is a mess.

Can't really resonate with this. Cloud couldn't make it into SOLDIER for lack of aptitude but somehow, Sephiroth who just manhandled a first class Soldier stands up to him. No amount of plot armor can make up for how silly this is.

Sephiroth just burned down Cloud's hometown, murdered his mother, nearly killed the love of his life and put his only friend in SOLDIER on Death's door. Of course Cloud would be stronger than Sephiroth here. Endless rage towards the loss of precious things is stronger than you think.

What if this plays out in the remake and we control Zack just to get killed 🤔 then somehow brought back 🤔 who knows

As a German I felt the Tifa different

I still wish they done a whole anime of the entirety of FFVII, and with this quality. That Zack and Sephirot fight scene was great and I lost count of how many times I watched it in the past.

This whole animation's timeline is screwed up, especially giving Cloud mako eyes BEFORE he even got mako poisoned..

Wait.. Tifa never could've seen Cloud's face in the actual canon. She didn't even know he was there till they both ended up in the life stream and started piecing cloud's memories back together.

fun fact this is the same studio which did season one of one punch man.

Can we get the entire FF7 story in this format by that studio please? I'd pay a LOT for that!!!

i hate all the different timelines and stories.
7 crysis core was the only true storyline. and the remake game made it even worse. cloud does NOT respect the Buster Sword wich was given to Zack after Angeal died and then to cloud after zack died.
Using the sharp edge just bring wear tear and rust! And thats a real shame.
