Burn It All Down? 5 Things to Keep from Battlefield 2042

There’s not much worth keeping in 2042…
The plus system isn’t BF… it’s a gimmick. Make the player make a decision and work around those choices.

They SHOULD bring back the weapon customization from Medal of Honor.

The atmosphere of BF1 and BC2.

The scale of BF4/3. With more of the structure from BF2.

Bring back classes. Bring back server browsers and dedicated servers toss in mod support and you have another classic Battlefield system.

what do you think about the amount of classes and restricted weapons? tbh i really dont want to see the return of the BF4 medic/assault. the reason i don't want the BF4 medic/assault is because it appealed to selfish players that didnt really want the role of medic, these players just wanted self heals + assault rifles + grenade launchers. players opted to bring the grenade launcher instead of the defib. the way to fix this imo is to have 5 classes and don't restrict weapons. the bf2042 assault already fulfills the role the described player wants so why not let medic, support, engineer, and recon be their own thing? unrestricted weapons because the type of weapon a player is allowed to use generally decides what class they want to play. unrestricting weapons allows for a class to be picked SOLEY for its role, instead of mostly because of what primary weapon the class has access to. this allows a medic to just be a medic, a support to just be a support etc.

I hope that at least they put the minimum to play a match at 4 or be able to mess around while waiting for players again because the way bf2042 (and EA's battlefront 2) handled queueing makes it very frustrating to find a match on less active times because not only you do nothing but also the amount usually needed is way too high(16 players!) If the purpose of the bots is to populate the servers, then why need so many players? I swear, some matches get killed off just because we only needed 2-3 players (This counts for that battlefront as well)

I just want my movement back :(

The + system is a necessary evil due to the poor designed large open spaced maps that are way too dependent on overpowered vehicle play

Something that I would love for them to keep would be the Solo mod/test area. I don't think a lot of people are talking about this mode but for me, it is very important that Dice keeps it.
Sadly as no one really pays attention to it, I would suspect it will disappear in the next BF.
Compare to the training area in BF4 and BF5 I believe this one is is so much better and close to perfect. It allow you to test the maps, game modes, and all the weapons specifics attachments and vehicles available for that particular map.
It is great for new player, or player that don't use vehicles that often, to learn how to operate such vehicle instead of dying after just a few seconds wasting a valuable tool for his/her team.
If you can at least lean the controls, you have at least a small fighting chance when you decide to use those in the base game.

You can argue that this can be made via portal, but I think this should be in the base game as you can access it quickly and officially.

If I was interested in bots I would play a SP game, not an online multiplayer game. Bots are completely degrading to the experience. Knowing you play against another human is 90% of the experience.

Other than that: BF2042 was complete trash. The maps are boring. The gameplay is too much like a COD / Fortnite clone. There is no destruction, and there is no feeling of playing a game that seeks to engage the player in something that feels like an actual real BATTLEfield.

The plus system is broken. I'd keep it restricted to one class operator's main ability or something ... either that or give us individual animations for pulling the weapon attachments out of our bags & onto our weapons to slow down it efficiency (making players have to actually think about when they'd like to switch their kits up a tad mid game)

Haha Ai needs to go, they are a terrible addition and for you to say they are needed to make the lobbies full shows how bad the franchise has become and even how bad the players are coping now.

My biggest pet peeve with 2042 was the solo play with bots is capped for progression to tier 3. I was pushing for trophies in ps5 and had to ask why I stopped progressing only to learn I had to then jump to multiplayer to get to tier 1. Super frustrating for someone who just wants to relax and not worry about try Harding to get all the trophies and shit

Hard pass on the plus system

Using bots to fill lobbies is a byproduct of not having persistent servers with a play list and server browser in All Out Warfare. They are virtual servers being spun up and then back down for each individual match in a larger server farm. They do it to save money. It sucks due to repeating the same map, joining the middle or end of a match, defending or attacking multiple times in a row in breakthrough etc. But I do agree that they are more competent then many of the current players. Why? Because many of the current players are noobs who have no idea how to play battlefield effectively. Much of the previously dedicated fan base has moved on.

Battlefield 2042 is a trash. BF3 was the best competitive shooter of all time in my opinion. This is nothing of what made that game great. Stop advocating for the plus system. You should have to choose all your attachment at the spawn.

Deployable vehicles maybe

I played all bf games. Hardline soso. I think if 2042 would have launched like this and had a campaign showcasing the specialist 2042 would have been accepted. I love 2042. It gets roasted way more than it deserves. All battlefield games are different and I come for the battlefield experience and that’s what I get. I agree with most of your points but I would not take back the plus system. Good idea but It adds too much of the randomness. I think that choosing your gun and attachments before going into battle has value. I do love the ping system as well. I personally liked the movement, but I think they should tone it down a bit. ( No jump slide bunny hopping stuff). I also like the revive mechanics . The footsteps audio is also on point!
I just want the next one to be ready at lunch with more content and have a more serious tone. It just needs to keep that immersive cinematic big scale combat experience that makes me tick.

The plus system was good for changing sights, that's it. Being able to re fill ammo yourself by swapping ammo types is OP. You should only have 1 mag when you switch ammo types if you run out of ammo in your main. It completely eliminates the team play aspect of squad mates playing Support.

The plus system is ok, I think if it was a bit more minimal(like limiting how many slots, what attachments can be swapped specifically sights and muzzle attachments would stay but limiting the mags, underbarrell options to allow in the plus system) and easier to quick swap.
I want a hard switch back to class systems but having cool, gadgets exclusively for classes.

I saw some reason in your comments until you got to the last one. I cannot disagree more about the direction of the game. Specialists should have no place in Battlefield. It makes no sense to take a franchise, which has historically been about being a soldier in a battle, and make it into a game with 64-128 players being a clone of one of 8 characters. It. Makes. No. Sense.

BF has been reacting to industry trends by chasing them when it should be a franchise SETTING those trends. There is way too much money behind this game to turn it into the bastard child of APEX Legends, CoD, and Fortnite. The soul of the game was ripped out because of this. The least destruction in a Battlefield game since BF2142 when that was a defining feature of the franchise since BC1

I want them to make the game they want to make. I believe they can. I feel like 2042 was a bastard child of every fan on the Internet demanding them to implement this, that and everything else.
Unfortunately, been a product of 2019 and the whole pandemic thing and social shit of the time.
Being very careful not to offend any people and trying to level the playing ground made it worse.

Honestly, the plus system wasn't that bad in 2042, but in my opinion it should not out right become the default weapon modification system going forward. I may be in the minority but I'd love to see battlefield adopt COD's gun bench system with more comprehensive options to modify your gun and then leave the plus system to modify specific parts of your gun while in a match, i.e. muzzle attachments, sights, underbarrel options and mag sizes for instance.

[Factions] need to return. Having similar looking players on the opposite team can be a "Fuster Cluck" at times. The Red & Green glowsticks to identify enemy & friendly players isn't enough.

I totally agree on the bots since originally BF1942, BF Vietnam, and BF2 / 2142 came with it. It makes the game a bit more lively and chaotic while the server is filling up with actual players.

And indeed bots are actually more useful than some players. They actually effort on reviving you even on enemy fire, plus they gave out ammo and medkits.

I’d like to see a single player game that you could play with friends or bots actually 4 player game with missions that gets new missions with updates so it’s on going no end to it And multi player game closer to BF4

KEEP: THE MOVEMENT SYSTEM!
It’s fastest, most agile so far in any title! quickly vaulting or climbing walls and objects is great. Love it!

NEEDS: BETTER SOLDIER CUSTOMIZATION!
BFV did a far superior job at soldier customization. Customizing not just an outfit but the face/ethnicity, face camo/paint customization, etc. There are outfits we cannot change the head gear for example, quite frustrating

Hard disagree with almost everything. 2042 should be essential for training purposes of what not to do in the next BF.

Specialist system is the worst they ever did.
Would be nice if they brought back customization form BF V where you can customize parts of gun and character separately.
Lis TGM is just so unbalanced they should totally get rid of it.
I really hope new Battlefield gets more serious, without that goofy skins and voicelines. Basically thats what made the game alot worse. I liked how vehicles there feel and shooting is also nice

Absolutely nothing should be taken from 2042. It should be buried and forgotten like the absolute dumpsterfire it is. Everything is a downgrade

While I like the plus system, I agree with people saying it shouldn't be in the next one. Now Portal should DEFINITELY come back.

I don't like the plus system. Flexibility yes, but kinda ruins the point of building a loadout for a specific playstyle. It's on of those things where more freedom equals less fun. At least for me
