Why should all of us be "perfect" ?
ОтветитьSo like and I was like and then like you know
ОтветитьBro if I should. All the people would think I'm like a slave girl and I want to be known as gay my dude what should I do😮😮😮
ОтветитьPeople saying "you know" is one of my biggest pet peeves. I didnt realize though thay it was a filler word though. It always bothered me because I found it to be presumptuous and didnt like being told what I know haha
ОтветитьThe weather guy on my local TV station says "Y'know" in every talk break. I wish I could call him up and tell him "If I knew, I wouldn't need you, and then you would be out of a job".
Another good technique I do to eliminate filler words in free-form speech is to imagine the ideas streaming across my field of view like a "crawl" on a TV screen. Then I just read it with my mind's eye. I do a radio show on which I talk about the music in a free-form style, relating artist information and chart positions. Some information is written down in front of me, but the ad-lib is conversational sounding but devoid of um, like, and you know. Listeners react favorably.
Thanks for this, Chris Pine's brother! :D
Ответитьi literally say those 4 words in that order when i dont know what to say ☠☠ "ummmm, like, you know?"
ОтветитьJust know what you're talking about and your brain won't crash. I don't remember people being as bad as this in the 90s.
I can't workout whether its excessive use of phones or being impressionable to teachers or friends beliefs instead of arriving at your own beliefs. So when questioned on those the brain freezes. It seems to happen at events/podcasts a lot (like...ummm...lke...sort of like.... ummm) or adding "super" in front of things.
Or
People are just becoming more and more stupid
The phrase is "couple OF." Not just "couple." You should be aware of this, if you're an English speaking coach.
ОтветитьThere is nothing worse than the ubiquitous "you know." I want to scream out, "No, I DONT know!"
Ответить"Like"
"Uhmmm,"
"But"
"You know"
I can't stop saying "like".. sheesh
ОтветитьI can’t stop saying “you feel me”
ОтветитьFor some reason um and you know don't really annoy me but I can't stand when people say "like" for every other word.
ОтветитьNawm-sayin my filler word, nawm sayin?
ОтветитьThis is a great video.! Period 👏🏽
ОтветитьQuit swearing.
This guy thoroughly and successfully communicated everything he had to say without once dropping an f bomb or some other course language. When you were a child cursing was impressionable, adults who do not are impressionable.
Thanks you for positing this. I don't mind hearing a young person using "like" or "you know", but it is creeping into public radio broadcasting and is particularly irritating. I have also become aware of the very fast speech rate of younger people, who seem to stumble over words as their speech rate exceeds their random access. A false egalitarianism has persuaded many educators that grammar and clear expression are products of archaic elitism, which is just plain ridiculous. Language is one of the greatest of human gift and the ability to express ideas with clarity a thing to be valued.
ОтветитьI can’t stop saying “Like”😭
ОтветитьI found this very helpful. Especially with the period/pause and 3 seconds pause. I listen to my VMs and noticed how much mmms I use. I had no idea before then. I also notice that I do it more when I’m in my head and rushing to get the words out before forgetting with my ADHD.
ОтветитьEveryone in 2023: Um, like, uh, mhm, it's honestly like there is no real genuine conversation today. Are we living the real-life movie idiocracy?
ОтветитьPERIOD on the phone 😂 I died.
ОтветитьShut up. I like um you know.
I am a um like you know integration guide & an entheogenic herbalist with over 9000 years of experience. This medicine is a birthright & learning about how to use it is an even bigger birthright.
You are deeply loved and cherished forever. You have nothing to fear. You are richly cared for. You can do no wrong.
What about people that say whole sentences ALL THE TIME? I have a friend that says, " You know what I'm saying?" But all as together as one word like, "Ynawmsayin?'" and also he says, "Nawmean?". It drives me absolutely insane...
ОтветитьHonestly, I think replacing “erm” with “period” would sound horrific! Period is an actual word - so people would wonder why you’re saying it, surely?
ОтветитьI have never used um and Ah or like and you know improperly and I only have a GED and am a Navy veteran with a mouth full of military Acronyms and foul vocabulary not fit for good company women or children but my mother drummed bad grammar and eloqution along with lying, stealing and disrespect out of me with near death enlightenment in the 1960s.
ОтветитьMine are “so” and “um.” Drives me crazy all the time to hear myself doing it. I try to consciously change it, but it’s very difficult. Going to try to say “pause” in my head instead.
ОтветитьI was thinking almost all English speakers are freaks, who can not speak smoothly -
but, thanks, that such critical problem of English speakers were discussed.
Sooooo... I, um, thought this video was, er, so... it was really helpful in my starting of my er, journey, and progress towards not using 'and' 'errr' 'so' as constant and annoying filler words!
Ответитьwhat you call it
ОтветитьThank you for this video I really appreciate it I am currently trying to learn how to not say the word init anymore as people around me are getting very angry with me and my opinions have stopped mattering recently so this video has helped me come through to stop my habit of using this word. I appreciate it very much thank you
Ответитьnice croch camera
ОтветитьI think the recording thing will help a lot. I should try that....
ОтветитьUm, like, you know
ОтветитьYes our brains are like computers ....lol
ОтветитьMy daughter uses the word like a lot. How do I tell my daughter without hurting her feelings or not sound condescending?
ОтветитьI say “um” the most but I also use “actually” and “basically”
Ответитьpreperatoin is key- me watching this for debating state trials where we do short preps 💀
ОтветитьI can't stop swearing. Just kidding. Struggling with the "um" issue. Thanks.
ОтветитьI’m the you know girl 🤣
Ответитьyou know, my filler word is you know xD I was editing my video and I found that is a person drank a shot everytime I say you know will end up dead after so much alcohol. I was worried and I found your video! I'll put it into practice!
Ответить2024 The word PERIOD is overly used, especially in the younger demographics.
ОтветитьYa meann
ОтветитьMy 6yr old friend was addicted to the word "like". I filled a ziplock bag half full of various coins. Every time she said "like" she had to give me one coin. She stopped saying "like" and learned to tell the difference between a penny and a quarter by touch.
Ответить♥️🩷🤍
Ответитьwhenever i hear people saying "like" a lot it annoys me. now i realise that i do that too..a lot
ОтветитьI really gotta quit saying "Ya Know" its a problem lol
ОтветитьI can’t stand “hey guys”
ОтветитьI would refuse to interview anyone who uses any of these filler words if I was a radio or TV host. I frequently have to change the station regardless of my interest in the subject matter due to this obnoxious habit some people have.
Ответить
