U are not wrong, but there is no need to buy twice the power if the listening is sitting 1 or 2 meter away from the speaker. A quality 60watt amp will server a 100watt rms speaker if the listener is 1 or 2 meter away and the amp will still have enough head-room. Someone please correct me if im wrong.

nonono don't double the continuous power; you need to do is find the limits of your system. You can do this by connecting an oscilloscope to your source (i.e. the head unit of you car) and playing a series of test tones. At each tone, while monitoring the amplitude on your oscilloscope, start at a low volume and increase it until you notice the waveform starting to clip. Take note of what volume level it starts to clip, and use the lowest volume level of all your readings as your volume limit. When you turn the volume up, you'll know to never exceed that limit.

Match the speaker to the amplifier power using only continuous power ratings (RMS). Set the amplifier gain using a similar procedure but with with the gain knob instead of volume. Do the gain tests with the volume at the limit you previously established.

as long as you're not clipping, underpowering your speakers won't damage them

If the general rule in choosing an amplifier is getting one that has twice the continuous power rating of the speaker, then let's assume u have a speaker with continuous power of 500W and you got an amplifier for 950W per channel can u connect two of the 500W speakers per channel?
