Nice bed head.
ОтветитьWe just always called them hillbillies.
ОтветитьUm..the Adirondacks are definitely not in New Jersey. They are in New York.
ОтветитьCrying tears of joy because somebody important finally pronounced Appalachian the right way 😢
ОтветитьBreaking News: Hank shops at Uniqlo
ОтветитьThe competing pronunciations of "Appalachian" are regional, in exactly the same way as "in-SUR-ance" and "IN-sur-ence." I find it interesting in the comments that the people championing a single correct pronunciation are users of the Southern pronunciation.
ОтветитьEver heard of MARIMEKKO?? 😍🇫🇮
ОтветитьThe Appalachians extended to Scotland and Norway, before the Atlantic was formed.
ОтветитьAnother Appalachian native here. There are several mountaintops in NC TN VA & GA where you can find fossilized sea shells in the bedrock exposed at the summit.
As a child that fact blew my mind, in my teens and 20's I used to go on hiking dates and show them, to see their reaction.
Big green flag if they said what the hell is that doing here.
As a youngster I loved to look for fossils. I lived in central Pennsylvania along the Susquehanna river and adjacent to the Pine Creek valley. Once while exploring an old quarry along the shores of Pine Creek, near my home of Jersey Shore Pa, I stumbled upon what appeared to be fossilized coral. And once while visiting relatives in Wellsboro, PA I discovered several items that contained an aggregation of fossilized shells. Evidence of the shallow seas I guess.
ОтветитьThank you so much for pronouncing Appalachian correctly
ОтветитьDid you say Adirondacks are in New Jersey? lmao. No they are in NY. I have lived here my entire life. This isnt a NY giants situation lol
ОтветитьSo sad Rocks Box are unavailable to me 😢😢😢 ... for some reason, I don't get the email when it's available (or, at all)... even though I could just go to my backyard to get an Appalachian rock, I want ROCKS BOX!!!! I have even reorganized my budget 😭😭😭
ОтветитьThank you for pronouncing "Appalachia" correctly. Really grinds my gears when I hear it as "Appa-lay-shuh"
ОтветитьThat title is offensive.....there may be alot of older folks livng here but most are really nice people and easy to talk to.
ОтветитьI'm glad he pronounced it, correctly.
ОтветитьI didn’t realise it was pronounced like that
ОтветитьNow its populated by some weird ass foreign aliens to that land.
Ответитьit's pedantic, but the grammar rule exists bc 1-Billion-Year-Old Fossils is much different than 1 billion Year-Old Fossils 😂
ОтветитьThe Adirondack Mountains are in NY, not in NJ*
ОтветитьGood Geology. Fascinating. But, the Adirondacks are in NY, and technically part of the Canadian Shield. The Northern Catskills of NY contain fossils of the first trees in Earth History.
ОтветитьAppalashuns
ОтветитьWhen I was in 2nd grade I was playing in the kaolin mines, a very narrow area in middle Georgia more that 150 miles from the ocean. We found sand dollar fossils. Apparently the kaolin mineral deposits represent an ancient seashore.
ОтветитьOne of the things I love about these discussions is on some level you might be able to understand them intellectually, but the reality is beyond human comprehension. If we live 70 some odd years (currently), then it is hard to picture landscape that has existed for millions of years and covered that distance, smashed together, pulled apart, etc. But isn’t it amazing that a collection of carbon-based atoms has come together that can discover and understand this at all?!
ОтветитьFascinating history, and very well presented. One factual. correction — The Adirondack mountains are located in New York State, not New Jersey
ОтветитьEditing that removes the space between ideas/sentences hinders absorption of the information. Leave a space!
ОтветитьThe Adirondack Mountains are in upper New York State, not New Jersey.
Ответить"i HaVe MeSsY hAiR aNd I tAlK aBoUt ScIenCe" is one of my least favorite tropes of all time 😮
ОтветитьWhat's the deal with the Uwharries in all of this?
ОтветитьThank you for pronouncing Appalachian correctly.
ОтветитьDistracted by the fact I just re-read The Hunger Games trilogy, trying to figure out on the map of the Appalachians where District 12 might be 😂
ОтветитьThank you for correctly pronouncing the word Appalachian.
ОтветитьI love this beautiful region I call home. Now I know there’s scientific basis for why it feels like one of the most magical places on earth- it’s been here so damn long.
ОтветитьMaybe because Hillbillies live a long time?
Just kidding.
I'm hiking the AT right now!
ОтветитьIts for sure this Dude has never picked up a Bilble.
Ответитьcan this mountain range tell us a bit of earth's history ?
ОтветитьAdirondacks in New Jersey????
ОтветитьAPPALACHIA MENTIONED RAHHHHHHH 🦅
ОтветитьI love the lack of AI generated content on this channel. Please never change!
ОтветитьNow do the Ozarks!
ОтветитьThese episodes are just fantastic. I’m a 46 year old (former) terrible student who spent just a few days on the Appalachian Trail last summer. I appreciate it so much more when it’s explained to me like this.
ОтветитьLoved this delivery of the magic behind these mountains!
ОтветитьDid he say the Adirondack mountains were in New Jersey? I thought they were in upstate New York ...?
ОтветитьFranklin marble is fluorescent because of manganese content. The manganese a deep ocean sediment
ОтветитьI didn’t expect to see a few features from my mineral collection on this video. I have something called touchonite from New Jersey. Wonder if that’s related to this super ancient junk.
ОтветитьOh, how I wish I could buy permanent copies of your videos, for teaching in a place that does not have internet...
Ответить"The Adirondacks in New Jersey"??
How dare you!
Take it back!
