First one here :-) Hello Olive😍
ОтветитьThank you Olive!
ОтветитьNot sure about July reading yet. It’s very much depends on the weather. We are not having a summer here …yet! 15 degrees and overcast. I had dreams of sitting in sunshine reading.
ОтветитьLovely video! I plan on reading The Bee Sting, Prophet Song and Tom Lake for fiction and Fire Weather for nonfiction in July.
ОтветитьI really enjoyed Sound of the Sea and thought it was fantastic, hope you do as well. And you're right about Why Fish Don't Exist, that's a tough one to classify neatly haha
Ответить'At Loggerheads' piqued my interest; I'm adding it to my tbr. I read 'Why Fish Don't Exist' after hearing you raving about it and you were absolutely right: it was wonderful! (and I was shocked by the twist)
ОтветитьThe Glass Castle IS as good as everyone says it is. The opening still gets me, perhaps ten years after I read it.
ОтветитьGreat video! Interested on your nonfiction cult reads. I have been fascinated by cults since reading the fiction book 'It's Not a Cult' - Lauren Danhof. It has a low goodreads rating, but i found it so entertaining
ОтветитьLove that you always have some under the radar books. All the fiction sound intriguing.
ОтветитьAs always so many good recommendations. Why Fish don't exist goes straight onto my POP. And I'm going to check out the Jeanette Walls novel. I loved The Glass Castle and I can also recommend Half Broke Horses, which I possibly enjoyed even more. Have a good reading month!
ОтветитьThe Glass Castle just made me angry frustrated and very uncomfortable. I can’t say I liked it. As my grandkids say it was “cringy”.
ОтветитьAt Loggerheads sounds interesting and a little different, looking forward to hearing your thoughts in the wrap up. I read Why Fish Don't Exist a few years ago based on your rave review and it was quite interesting, sadly I kinda knew "the twist" as I'd studied a lot of other scientists in that era. I normally go hard in Jane Austen July but this year only reading a couple, though am excited to read an annotated version with a lot of historical details.
ОтветитьThe Glass Castle is such a good book, I hope you’ll like it too. 💕
ОтветитьThanks for the great suggestions. I just put The Sound of the Sea on hold at the library. Thanks Olive!
ОтветитьI've read Glass Castle twice! I love her writing style and her whole approach to telling the story about her childhood. CANNOT wait to hear your thoughts.
I see The Sound of The Sea is on Everand as an audio book so I will definitely give that a listen ❤
Good luck with your TBR!
ОтветитьWhy Fish Don't Exist is one of my favorite books and I got to read it because of you! Thank you!
ОтветитьI love The Glass Castle, it’s one of my top 10 favourite books ever. At Loggerheads sounds interesting, the cover is stunning and I love a mystery.
ОтветитьNice TBR Olive!
ОтветитьI'm laughing at how cheerful you are talking about the book you expect to be disturbing!
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьThe Sound of the Sea sounds lovely! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
ОтветитьI haven’t read Going Clear but I have watched the documentary and would absolutely recommend it.
ОтветитьI have not read The Glass Castle by Jeanette Wells yet. I will read eventually.
ОтветитьGoing Clear, yes! So good. The documentary is great too. But yes, definitely prepare to get frustrated, angry, etc. lol.
ОтветитьLoved The Glass Castle. So good
ОтветитьYour reviews take me back to elementary school in the early 1970s. Every few weeks we would get a flyer from Scholastic books about all the books in their catalog so that you might choose what you wanted to buy. It was thrilling, so thriling, to learn about the different books, choose the ones YOU wanted, and order them. When they arrived it was the best thing about school. Your reviews are the closest thing to that experience. And the only problem is the same. After watching your show I always wish I could own and read all the books you talk about.
ОтветитьHi, what was the show you were watching that had the word “shadow” in it? Thx
ОтветитьThe Sound of the Sea sounds great. I am fortunate that I only live 15 minutes from the beach. Google the Jurrasic coast to see!
