One clarification: The price for the Camera Module 3 is still $25—not $35 as stated in the video—at least for the standard versions. The wide-angle versions of both the normal and NoIR camera modules are $35.

Hey, I bought the Pi camera module 3 but I don't know how to connect it to the raspberry pi 5 because the connector seems too big to fit in the designated port. Any help?

hey guys, i hope that someone can help me with my problem: missing frames

i am using pi 4 2gb (fresh installed and updated OS), camera module 3. Libcam with 1080p 30fps (libcamera-vid --width 1920 --height 1080 --framerate 30 -o name.h264). Recording on a v3 class sd card (where the pi os is installed aswell). It doesnt matter if the video is 5s or 20s. I am missing not only a few frames, i am missing seconds (in the 20s video nearly 6-8 secons video material) and there are big artefacts in the video.

Everything i found on the internet says different things, e.g. sd card to slow, or whatelse. But nothing of this is the case.

too bad its not that easy hooking up camera modules from old smartphones to the pi and making driver for it.
high end camera modules from 1..2 year old smartphones are pretty cheap on the used replacement part marked, 10...20 bucks for even the really good ones.
i allways wondered back then why no one ever used the nokia 808 40mp camera sensor, it was way ahead of everything else when it came out and long after it was discontinued.

i mean its csi and i2c for setup, figure out pinout, sniff setup datastream. unless they decrypt their communications between soc and camera module i wonder why theres no projects around. in my head, i think it cant be too hard. but knowing from failed projects, you can spent months with it and may not get anything out of it.

The oppo phone mentioned in the video has better quality it's because smartphone have image processing and also AI

Based on your experience, is the official camera more stable than the Arducam Hawkeye? I've been testing out the 64mp camera on my RPi 4B 4GB for a client project, but the camera fails to start half the time and I have to try running the script many times before it starts to work, making it a no-go for client projects. I think I will be purchasing this camera to replace the Arducam one if I can get it to work more reliably.

In the last picture example you can also see that the pi lens is darker and has more muted colors around the corners. This is also because of a bad lens, but all in all I really kinda enjoy the look of the pi cam, looks kinda early digital and some example photos I even like more then the iphone!

certainly wont be buying anymore pi priducts or Pi's. considering everyone was paying around £40 GBP for a pi 3b are now paying £156, now recently down to £64.

nah that massive price hike is unjustified and uncalled for. Fk RPI and bring on the next best alternatives.

The improve is very interesting, and I think as you say in the video that many errors could be in the software. In order that, can you test the raw output? We know Apple software for enhancement in photography is a lot better. My best regards!

I think its just not the software or module that makes the difference, Chips are also custom designed to process raw images and videoes.Together it creates much superior results.

What would be nice to do would be to compare to an older iPhone. For example my iPhone is an 11 which does fine for me day to day, maybe test the noir camera against a phone that old to see if it holds up.
