I love this movie, I think it’s funny and just all-around good. It’s a dark comedy that pretty much parody’s and uses gallows humor on a toxic/abusive marriage.

seen this movie when i was a child and i just now seen it again on prime and i forgot how good the movie was and also i didnt realize back when i was a kid how much kathleen turners character was a massive bitch for no reason. she literally started it all and wasnt trying to be civil thru the whole thing.... i mean she didnt even go to see him in the hospital cuz she said she was glad thinking he died lol..... i was def was team douglas in this.... he was only guilty of falling in love and providing a good life for his wife and kids and she did nothing in return but turn into a massive bitch.... i woulda def left her ass..... tht kind of love isnt love... exact opposite actually. glad i got out of both mines when i did lol

One of my all time favorite movies. Such a classic. They really don't make movies like this anymore. The definition of a toxic couple. And although I've seen this movie too many times to count. I always root for them to reconcile at the end even though (Spoiler) it could never happen.

One of my favorite classics, wonderful actors, but the sad truth for many married couples in the world.

Anyone getting a divorce should watch this film. A coworker of mine is getting a divorce and I have been telling him to lawyer up now and be as ruthless as he can possibly be but, he keeps thinking they will "work it out' and everything will be ok. Men get soooo screwed in divorces because they are naive and trusting. Wise up men, you have the right to be happy. Quit thinking you have to be a slave to your job, wife, kids and your house. Be happy NOW, life is too short.
