I don't think they do jungle training in the French Guinea I think instead is the Philippines & swaps of the Louisiana & Florida south but still give challenges even challenges that French Guinea or South America give while at the same times I'm sure in someways are easier then French Guinea. when i was twenty tryed to join the legipn told em ive got my wife with me they told me to fuck off hahah same as the british army realy anyways,so i told them give me a shout when theres a war on so i became a headoorman in london 356 days a year now when ya think about it if i had a fight every night which i did thats 356 fights a year but most ,nights it was loads of fights i aiant looking for medals i wish i could turn back time and be a legionaire

This is basic soldering at its best. I spent 3 years in the U.S. Army and 18 years in the USAF. I am proud to have served my country, but I think the US military has become too political and woke. I can see how the FFL would appeal to some people. Especially those seeking a second chance or a new start in life. Redemption is a good thing for a troubled or restless soul. Much respect to those who accept the challenge and succeed!

The documentary is not fully accurate.
French nationals are actually allowed to join in. Only, they have to give up on their identity and nationality. When they get in the Legion, they would become Canadians, Morrocans, Koreans, Congolese, Romanians... Anything but French.
The ideal is that nations or so-called races don't matter in the Legion anyway.
You've got only 2 options: both being a brave and obedient man, in which case you're allowed in, or being a rebelious sissy, then you get fired within a couple of days.

Murderers, rapists and drug dealers are not allowed in. If you did anything really wrong in your past, they will find out because of modern tech.
But if you only committed petty crimes and show good will, they'll forgive you and give you your chance.

Finally, Legionnaires are nothing like mercenaries that are mere prostitutes. Legend has it that they don't fight so much for money, but for honor, salvation and their families. They don't make much money given purchasing power in France and the risk taken, although their salary is decent when they're deployed in international operations.
That's the principle in the Legion. Honor first and foremost.

What I like about the legion is its a second chance for young men who may have f-cked uo like so many young men do the usArmy and marines used to be a young American mans second chance but now days you need a high school diploma can never have been in any serious trouble.

Having worked with 2 Rep and stayed in their base in corsica I can safely say...forget their self-proclaimed status as elite...as they are anything but.
As the guy said at the start...they have the same weapons,uniform,vehicles and kit as regular French troops...the only difference is they are foreign...and that about sums it up....and their dire wage.
It's a haven for convicts, failures,misfits,drop-outs and economic migrants.
If you want to spend six weeks getting thrashed and be subjected to bullshit and get bullied for €500 a month and a white ice-cream sellers hat and a new passport go for it.
I preferred staying in a professional Army for 20yrs and can still change my identity if I really want.
