I was surprised by how much I enjoyed experimenting with a folding bike. Have you ever tried one?
ОтветитьTo me... this would be still too big to take on a airplane.
ОтветитьSome folding bikes are specifically optimized for air transport, and don't require any disassembly for packing. The New World Tourist by Bike Friday is a good one; its hard case can even be fitted with wheels and pulled along as a trailer!
ОтветитьYour not we’re n a helmet not cool 😮😮😮
ОтветитьI use my Brompton for my in-office commute, putzing around, going shopping—though some of the hills here I definitely wouldn’t try going up (going down…yes, but after a spill earlier this summer, sometimes I opt for hills that don’t have a 10%+ grade (going down)), unless I don’t care about getting sweaty. But it folds small enough to not be a hassle for on the bus or the local train.
I’m kinda looking forward to trying it on air travel since apparently you can stick it in an IKEA Dimpa bag (some folks double bag it and use clothes etc to protect parts of the bike).
It is kinda amusing (to me) when I catch and pass other cyclists in it, because you can get some speed on it on flat terrain.
For me, the primary reason I wound up getting a folding bike was because my last bike got stolen outside of my apartment. The folding bike I got as a replacement lives in my entryway closet when not in use, and only takes a moment to set up for use. The folding has also proven incredibly useful for taking it with me on the road (BF lives an hour and a half away)
ОтветитьYou didn't secure the folded down handlebars. I've had this bike for about five years. It's sturdy and durable. A good bike.
ОтветитьThis bike is total crap - overpriced and cumbersome even when folded! I regret that I bought it, too bad I couldn't I try it before I purchased it - well that's the "beauty" of buying things online after watching promotional vids!
ОтветитьI love my brompton electric. very comfy and super tiny while folded can fit anywhere
ОтветитьVery little adjustment and assembly was required but glad I did take it to a bike shop for ...
ОтветитьCoolest idea ever still needs development
ОтветитьI have never understood why you need to put folding bikes in a bag on trains. Seems like an unnecessary barrier to using one
ОтветитьI have this bike but an earlier version. Nexave IGH is the opposite of low maintenance. Go ahead and google taking your rear wheel off. Give me a rear derailleur all day. I got a flat, tried to fix it, had to bring it to a shop to get it reset, lost a gear in the process (now it’s 6 speeds), and now I have a flat again. Sick of this crappy system.
ОтветитьI always love to watch the shifter vlogs! love from India♥
ОтветитьI prefer my Brompton over Tern for around Sydney and travelling.
ОтветитьBrompton, you should have bought a Brompton.
ОтветитьYou supposed to ride with 2 hands on the handlebars you clown.
ОтветитьAh, you too have discovered the carefreeness of the folding bike. Dahon D8 Launch.
ОтветитьI have had two. For me I could not get the handlebars close enough or high enough.
ОтветитьFolding bikes are great here in Singapore. Its much more nimble, and is able to manoeuvre on pedestrian sidewalks.
ОтветитьThey are great for people who live in vans...... I'm Dutch and I love that I can leave my van at camp and cycle into Town
ОтветитьUm, for people without outdoor bike storage who live in flats, and people who do a commute that involves trains, basically.
ОтветитьThis one looks similar to Dohon Vitesse D7HG.
ОтветитьThis is very cool! Honestly, I wish I would have seen this video before buying my Franklin 3.
ОтветитьI bought a Lectric XP Lite to give me some personal mobility as a OTR semi-truck driver. I can lift it up the steps one-handed and it fits snugly right in front of the passenger seat.
ОтветитьWait, but I thought you lived in Calgary... Don't know if traveling with a bike it worth the hassle, although getting around town in a bike seems much more fun than taking taxis or walking everywhere
ОтветитьWhat’s the furthest you rode it?
Ответитьhow does this bike handle hills
ОтветитьHow fast does it go? :o
ОтветитьI just noticed that your bike has mounting points on the front frame. That means you can fit a Brompton style carrying block and get bags to clip on front. It's so handy.
ОтветитьLoved your review . I just wish you wore a helmet lmaooo. I’m Kinda big on that coz we all need to advocate safe riding;) thank you for this informative video.
Ответить2 wheels sitting next to each other and a long handle... can this NOT be pulled like a really small wagon?!? Why carry it when it could just be pulled on its wheels?
ОтветитьI’ve been really enjoying all these videos you have on your channel. Very approachable and very practical 💖
ОтветитьThanks for this video! In a couple of months I will be moving into a big city for university, where I want to cycle, so I'm researching what kind of bike I should get. After watching this video, I might get a folding bike, because my studies will require me to travel quite a lot, so I might opt for it. I thought about getting just a simple netherland-style city bike, but now I'm not that sure :D
ОтветитьI have a Dahon D7 . I would like to swap the deraileur out for a Shimano internal gear hub like what's on his bike. My question is how good does it climb hills? It's not flat where I live.
ОтветитьI like to go camping but only have a small car. I bought a folding bike to take to campsites so that I can explore the local area.
ОтветитьIf your commute includes metro or other small train systems, the folding bike is great.
ОтветитьBikes like that doesn’t take a lot space and put it in the trunk of your car as oppose to installing a rack on it. You don’t need to spend extra money for a bike rack and it is time consuming to install it
ОтветитьThanks for the video, it was very interesting to see you had a lot of the same questions. Right now I don't really use it, but next month I think it's a great opportunity to take commuter train to other cities, bringing the bike on the train. It should be a good opportunity to explore more.
ОтветитьI have a tiny apartment and my foldie lives inside with me...reassuring not to have to leave it outdoors! I do recommend getting a tube of gritty lubricant to deal with the inevitable sliding down of the seat post. I also take extra time as I'm setting up to double check that everything's locked in place.
ОтветитьFolding bikes with a perfect case?
Ответитьi have used one since 2011, got my second in 2016. Both dahons, obviously use them because you can't lock a bike outside in nyc and feel safe so that was the great solution, still a bit heavy.
ОтветитьToo lengthy for an obvious reason to use it. People dislike time wasting. I should stop watching u tube.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьYour saddle is too high?
ОтветитьIs it ok for a 6 ft tall man?
ОтветитьMy nearest bike shop is a bus ride away so I ordered a folding so that if it needs a repaire I can actually get it to the shop. I also live in a small flat. Ofcourse I havnt learnt to ride a bike yet. It arrives tomorrow.....
ОтветитьI've been riding mine for 6 weeks now, ditched the car in favour of a cycle/train commute. I went for the Tern over the brompton, this was mainly due to the wheel size and fatter tyres, as I do a country to city commute, the roads can be a bit rough. Absolutely loving it so far and the ability to take into into the workplace gives so much peace of mind.
