Hi there It’s Mike and Ira, the diamond pros. Today we’ll do a quick rundown of what to look for when buying a two carat diamond ring.
Let's start with the easy stuff. There are two questions that we can’t answer for you: Which shape diamond you want and what style setting you will put it in. Those decisions are based on personal preferences and style. Once you figure those two things out, we are happy to take it from there. We’ll give a quick crash course, but make sure to look up all relevant videos and articles (you can find a link below) we have for the specific diamond shape you are getting.
For color, we normally recommend J+ for a round solitaire in white gold or platinum. Since a two carat diamond is a bit larger than our typical recommendations, you may want to bump up the color a bit. If not, the diamond really needs to be fantastically cut if you are going for a J color, but more about that later. We have guidelines for all other shape and setting combinations as well.
IRA : Be sure to check out our content on clarity. It's imperative that you find a diamond that is eye-clean. Finding an eye-clean diamond is more of an art form than a science, so feel free to lean on us for help picking out a diamond. You can contact us at any time for help with that.
Cut is another thing you should keep in mind. Try to get the nicest cut possible, as this is what makes the diamond sparkle. And, as always, be sure to get a diamond with a GIA or AGS certificate.
So where are the best places to get a 2ct diamond ring? Lets go over the options. Our favorite places are Blue Nile and James Allen.
Blue Nile has a fantastic selection of diamonds and settings. They manage to offer these diamonds to consumers working on razor thin margins. This gives you, the consumer, your best bang for your buck. Take a look at this fantastic 2ct diamond from Blue Nile. You can look at the details via the link below.
James Allen is another fantastic choice. Their selection parallels Blue Nile’s and their service is phenomenal. They too offer great value for consumers. Here is a stunning 2.50ct diamond from them.
Brian Gavin Diamonds is an interesting third option to consider. Brian Gavin specializes in perfectly cut diamonds. There is a premium that goes along with his diamonds, but for those of you looking for the absolute best diamond, Brian Gavin is someone to consider.
Once again it’s ira and mike, the diamond pros. Thanks for watching.
