If you have a set of ear pods i suggest you use them just to hear how lovely that engine sounds.
ОтветитьThank you Jay! Your fortunate enough to own these beasts, but generous enough to share your experience, thank you Sir.
ОтветитьJay has to lie about Corvettes! Porsches get driven, Corvettes sit.
ОтветитьI had the identical car. It was fun but I bought it used and it was often in the shop. Heat, was real spotty, no AC, no leather. Orange color black interior. It was base, but I owned a 911!
ОтветитьYou can see Jay, loves this car , by just the look on his face , A BIG smile,
ОтветитьBeautiful color. You just don't see these rich colors any more.
ОтветитьI just love these old non-carrera, non-turbo Porsches!
Ответить😂 Jay Leno is all about , bangin the gears , and " using all the power ,all the time " !!! Long live the king 👑!!
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful car..it's the detailing...chrome, glass, sills, lights
ОтветитьJay Leno in this car, with this scenery, filmed from this angle, is the embodiment of the American dream.
ОтветитьStill trying to figure out how to pipe in the sound of a 917K into my '58 bus...🤔
ОтветитьJust gave me chills....I remember a day like this driving one of these machines. It's in the memory bank recollection of a time long ago. Cool!
ОтветитьLove the car, don’t care for the color. Paint it British racing green!
ОтветитьI'm not a car guy at all, but the classic Porsche 911 is my dream car. I love those rounded headlights so much. Just a dignified, humble car. And just about every one I've seen has a desaturated colour that only adds to that feeling.
ОтветитьI love those old Porsche speedsters.
ОтветитьWe actually ran into jay driving this car down the 101!
ОтветитьThat sepia brown only looks good fresh, when it’s ugly and worn out it looks awful. ANY Longhood 911 is a great car or 912 - you just have to dial them in. I’m messing with my 70-71 clutch now - what a PITA
ОтветитьWow! Sometimes, the simple things in engineering are all you need. Beautiful
ОтветитьI absolutely love this car, a chocolate 911 is my dream car. 😂 I love air cooled cars but I'm in the budget of VWs and will probably never own an older air cooled Porsche. I always test drive my stuff down the same route that you take, we call it the Jay Leno race track 😄💪👍 love watching your stuff Jay and some of my favorite lines I stole from you, #1 you can use all the power all the time and #2 the long pull. You rule Jay!! 😄👏👏🖤
ОтветитьLove the simple story of usual 911. Pleasure ..pure. Simple colour simple set.. In my opinion far more fun than 1 mil Singer
ОтветитьAnyone know how to get in touch with Daryl Hall or what shop he works in?
ОтветитьPorsches and alfaromeos from this period are the best cars in the world
ОтветитьVery cool. Would love to have seen a 930 or 964 in your stable. 930 widowmaker with the 3.3 turbo and that massive whale tale would be a blast on the twisties.
ОтветитьIt's not about bhp, it's about power to weight ratio.
ОтветитьLove your work mate your genuine passion and enjoyment is a pleasure to watch
ОтветитьGreat car.
ОтветитьRather important that this is a '71 model. The first ones were very squirrely because they had something like 70% of the weight in the back with the engine so far out, and it only got worse once the tank emptied, which make them very challenging to drive in anything but a straight line. They experimented with putting lead and other stuff in the front to even it out a bit, but by 1970 they were well past that. The spare tire is placed right up in the front bumper to help weigh it down, along with everything that doesn't strictly need to be in the rear. You still have to remember that you can't floor it in a curve, or take your foot off the gas, or the rear end comes around, but these late models are much easier to keep under control. It's like Jay always says: the last models are the best ones because they've figured out how to get it right. Of course the 911 went out of production in 1973 when it was replaced by the 930, which ended up being sold as the 911 Turbo because people refused to accept that it was a different model, despite a rather substantial design change. It's really rather strange that with the 935 and 959, people were willing to accept they were different cars, even though they have more in common with the 930 and 964 versions of the 911, than the 930 had with the 911
ОтветитьThe doodoo brown jawn
ОтветитьI Bought A 83 944 When I Was In High School Timing Belt Broke On It At 44,000 Miles And I Got It For A Deal !
ОтветитьAmazing these cars, completely restored or with very low miles are going for $300K +. I used to have a '73 911 T, wishing I never sold it. I'd be interested to know what he paid for the car. I'd rather have this than a new 911. I know that may sound crazy... but for anyone that has ever driven a 911 G car, there's nothing like 'em. Taking off, shifting the gears, hearing the sound that only these cars make and even the old 4 speeds were fun to drive. These cars are amazing.
Ответитьthat engine rebuild was 50k
ОтветитьGreat presentation. Accomplished auto techs are a blast to know. Thanks for this one.
ОтветитьThe best and most beautiful car in world.
ОтветитьThere is no substitute!
ОтветитьJay just became a salesman. He talked about every conceivable reason why we should buy a Porsche. So guys, ready, set, go! Good luck in finding the dream Porsche, Jay talked about.
ОтветитьHas Jay ever rebuilt and engine with less horsepower? Not in this life time.
ОтветитьThank you wonderful show as always.
ОтветитьJust don't get it sideways in the canyons Jay. It'll bite you!
ОтветитьI know I’m late to the comment here, but I need an outlet to vent. I so regret selling my rust-free, well kept, 74 911, for just 6 or 7 grand or something back in the early 90s because my insurance was $500 a month, liability only. Oof! Speed limit back then was 55mph, and 6 speeding tickets (never exceeding 69) was too much for me. Being 24 and hispanic at the time didn’t help. Should had just kept it in the garage😢
ОтветитьI have the exact same car in my garage
ОтветитьTurned the car into a hot rod more HP then a 73 RS sounds more like a 2023 then a 1970’s
Ответитьthis whole 911 is Stunning , most especially the color combo of the exterior and Interior i drove a Truck for 19 years that had a Brown MetalFlake paint job and i always called it Baby Poop Brown ! honestly it was a easy color to keep clean with a good Shine on it also hid imperfections well
ОтветитьI had a brown car once and thought the same way: "maybe I'll paint it...." But it it funny how brown can grow on you.
ОтветитьCurb weight is only 2250, not 2700
Ответить"Makes all the right noises" classic Jay!
ОтветитьBe cool to be an underpaid minion slave, i mean employee, at Jay's Garage.
ОтветитьI used to hang out at Northlake Porsche-Audi in the Atlanta suburbs when it opened in 1970, I was a sophomore in high school, the 911T were selling in the $7k range when a Corvette was less than $5k. In 1972 got a 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster and the rest is a history of three 912's and about a dozen 911's from 1969 to 1973, I specialized in them for about 4 years in the late 2,000's when the Euro reached 1.7 to the $US Dollar and the cars had passed 25 years of age lower import tax, the Europeans were buying every one they could get their hands on putting six in a container to Rotterdam. The Sepia Brown color was one VERY often overpainted but it indeed was one of the Porsche colors that SCREAMS early 1970's along with Conda Green, Tangerine and Signal Orange. I even drove some Sportomatic's which I hated. My 911T's didn't have anywhere near 150hp much less 200hp, they were light steering cars especially when the gas tank was low, the ride was excellent, not harsh like sports cars that get their handling by making the chassis stiff and kidney bruising. You could see in front and to the sides and the back, you sat high up, no better view in ANY car, thanks to the read engine. The 1972's had the 2.4 liter motor, a big deal then. I had a '69 that was terrific with a short shift kit that made it shift like a light switch, that square 2.0 liter motor had grunt all day long, terrific. Later had a few 911SC's and Carrera's and even a federalized 1982 930 Turbo, THAT car was heavy but VERY FAST. Now I drive an Arctic Silver with Terracotta 1998 986 Boxster which I think is as fast as my 1987 911 3.2 Carrera with an INFINITELY better ventilation system along with REAL heat and REAL air conditioning. Electric windows too! Still I wish it was air-cooled ......
ОтветитьNothing like an early Porsche. I love these cars and loved to work on them back in the late 80’s early to mid 90’s at RPS Automotive (Rick’s Porsche Service) in West LA. The best years of my life.
ОтветитьHey Jay thanks for taking us all for a ride in your 911 T! Best.
