Noooo please don't compare this to the CX 30. I own one and it doesn't soak up the road at all. Yes it's fun to drive which is why I bought it, but I feel every freaking bump on the road. Unless you live where the roads are very smooth, the rough ride ruins the fun. At least for me. I would rather have a smooth ride. The Crosstrek has a smooth ride and no it's not as fun. But when you live on roads where there are bumps, the CX 30 becomes much less fun. After a while it just becomes too much.

The 2.0 litre Crosstrek gets to 60 mph QUICKER than the all-new for 2023 Honda HRV. So keep those pink slips in the glovebox. Just in case.

This CUV but lowered is an impreza, but historically that only came with the 2.0.
Now the impreza RS is coming. A proper hatchback with the 2.5. I placed an order for mine already..!!

We looked at the Subura Sport - love the car. ...just not as much as the CX-30 as for as comfort for long roadtrips up north.

As for "fun factor". The fact the car/cuv and be driven off-road, on some pretty rough tracks, makes it a FUN car. Just sayin'. :)

Isn’t the direct hatchback ckmpetitor the Impreza? Yeah it is a 2.0L but the rest is the same. And in the US you get roof rails on your Imprezas making it almost as useable.

Greetings from Colorado. I originally wanted a manual CrossTrek but they are few and far between plus underpowered. Why does the CVT get better gas mileage? Anyway, your video convinced me that the larger engine version is the way to go. At least it can get out of its own way now. I really like the Sport option. I'm 70 years old and recently retired. Fast is not as important to me as it was in my youth. As for sporty, my 77 MGB handles that fairly well even though it is slow compared to modern sports cars, but I can fix most anything on it. I really enjoy your videos and you answered all the questions I had about the CrossTrek and its plusses and minuses. Now I have to decide which old truck I need to sell to make room for my new Cross Trek Sport😃 Keep up the great work on those videos.

After 4 years and 28000K in 2018 Crosstrek Premium MT (purchased in Hawaii with no XM) and traded it here in Maryland for a 2022 2.5L Sport, I miss the manual but am in love with the tech, the upgraded trim, and yes the power. This is my favorite go to "low-rise medium weight outdoor running shoe" Great video and sums up my love affair and commitment to the Crosstrek. Oh and I previously owned a 2005 Saabaru 92x non turbo 5 MT. So this is my 3rd Subaru. 😂

I've had the '20 Limited going on three years, and I'm about to order a new '23 Limited with the 2.5L. The 2.0L just isn't enough, so going with the 2.5L is a no brainer. The car is a Swiss Army knife, practical, solid on road feel, great daily tech. A recent Grand Canyon road trip convinced me that trading up for the new 2.5L Limited gets it done for me.

Crosstrek is like a hiking boot with yellow shoe laces and stitching. Not fun to walk on asphalt but great on a rough trail.
CX-30 is like a running shoe more fun on an asphalt run but not as good on trail( you might sprain an ankle). It’s actually like a too tight running shoe, good for short distances but on a long run you’ll be feeling some pain(if you’re in the back seat).
BTW, Crosstrek Is fine for a funeral as long as you get in black.

People always talk about the outdoorsy camping lifestyle when talking about the Crosstrek (as well as the Forester and Outback). There is another segment that I think is overlooked for this type of vehicle at this price. Young people in the trades. The AWD and 8.7 inches of ground clearance would come in real handy at the job sites. No, you're not tossing 20 sheets of plywood in the back, but the youngsters aren't typically the ones brining the supplies. They just need their tools. What kid just out of trade school is able to dump almost 40 grand on the bone stock base level F-150? There are so few vehicles accessible to young people in the trades. I think that has been somewhat addressed in the recently released Maverick and Santa Cruz, but I am surprised nobody ever mentions these lifted hatchbacks in that space. All wheel drive, high ground clearance, (8.7 vs the Maverick 8.6) Easy to clean interior (on the sport trim). The Crosstrek seems like a viable option for them.

0-60 not something most do on the regular. Crosstrek takes you to the fun. People in the Mazdas don't strike me as the sort that are comfortable loading sandy surfboards and such into that premium cabin. They probably make you take off your shoes before climbing in. I would. This automobile and ones like it are for a different breed. A little dirt is good for you kinda souls. As always I'm glad for the competition among automakers.

I ordered a Crosstrek yesterday. I surf maybe 100x per year and drive on the beach to get to my spot. My RWD Sequoia got stuck a few times last year, and several other times I had to find a place to park off the beach because the beach was too rutted and soft and I knew I would get stuck for sure if I tried..

The Crosstrek has a low roof which will be easy to load boards on, good ground clearance and AWD to get me to my spots, and it's cheap and fuel efficient. I couldn't find a car that could beat all these things at any price.

I think the people buying Crosstreks are outdoor people first. I'm sure some people buy this car so they can look outdoorsy, but I don't think it's the norm.

I have a 2013 Impreza sport with 148 horsepower. There are a couple of issues I have with the car, like excessive oil consumption. But never once have I felt the car was under-powered. This is coming from someone with a heavy foot, too. It can easily merge on the highway, pass whomever I want and whenever I want, and it's also first off the line at every stoplight. If you're trying to climb a mountain, the car might theoretically complain, sure. The few mountains I've climbed since 2013 in the car, though, have been easily manageable. All this to say two things: A 2021 has to have improved in the power department, and based on the non-issue before and the improvement on the non-issue, people need to stop saying these cars are under-powered because they simply are not. A more real life issue, if you'd like something to complain about, is oil consumption.

Greetings from cold, wet, and snowy northern New England! I loved this video! You guys hit the nail on the head talking about typical "fun" and appliances. I like the outdoorsy, crunchy kind of fun. I'm currently leasing a 2020 Premium Outback that I take on dirt roads a lot and love using my x-mode. I have a pair of alpine skis, snowshoes, hiking poles, and microspikes that hang out in my trunk through the summer and only leave the trunk of my car when I go play in the snow. I'm planning to buy my next car rather than lease it. I first saw the Crosstrek Sport in Acadia National Park in the Plasma Yellow color and loved it. I've also seen the Outback Wilderness at Killington in VT and at Sunday River in ME and got all googly-eyed for it. I'm looking forward to the Crosstrek Wilderness coming out in 2023. Whichever Subaru I end up buying, my winter gear is going in the trunk, a rooftop tent is going on the top, and black mountain decals are going on the sides.

This crosstrek is bringing back SENSIBILITY to consumer. One is enough. Enough is good. Function over form. Function over style. Which is the best kind of proposed value in this age of materialism and excess consumption. This one fits those who walk their talk.

Everybody else could get the mazda, honda, nissan, jeep, etc. More power to them. More style to them. More talk to them. Keep talking.
