When I was at Disney Orlando, I went under the chain barrier in an empty bus stop line, then the driver yelled at me for “not waiting in line” even though the area was clearly empty and the bus was about to leave. Then when we asked the hotel to check his employee number they said the number was there, but is was a different name then he gave us. I understand the difficulty of customer service, but it really seems intense sometimes.

I cannot imagine part of my Disney job description being "during unrest, gather the troops, form a horizontal riot control wall, and yell at emotionally distressed guests" despite being paid significantly less than a riot cop and probably having none of the equipment to handle physical altercations

I looked up whether anyone else had a similar experience on the Falcon ride, and there’s a 2022 article called “Exciting (and a little unsettling) experience when Millennium Falcon breaks down” by Monica Street, detailing a similar occurrence where a group(?) was stuck for 15 minutes with no communication from cast. There’s also an article from February 2023 called “Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Unexpectedly Closed in Disney World” by Robin Burks, though I’m not sure if it’s the same location

When i was like 7 or 8 my family went to Disneyland for my siblings birthfay, and some issue happened with power like a plane crashed into some power lines so they could only run certain rides with diesel generators… we went on the Casey Jr circus train and it broke down midride. Had to walk off manually walking through the ride 😂

So, you shouldn't have accepted the lightning pass from Disney as it prevents any litigation as you have already 'accepted compensation' for what happened. Just for future reference if anything else horrible happens. These companies should be giving you more in return for their fuck ups.

Also even if you are having a bad day, don't take it out on customers, like what the fuck is wrong with people.
They need to learn to control their emotions at least a little and don't lash out on people who don't deserve it and are coming to a place to have a good time.
I hate that people be a dick to customers and go, "well, I am having a bad day" like its suddenly okay to act like a pos because there is a reason its happening.
There being a cause doesn't make it okay, they don't deserve shitty attitude for no reason.

The buzz lightyear ride, and all those ones that don’t stop when you get on, have to stop for people with mobility disabilities to board and it stops the whole ride.

I remember getting stuck on the Indiana Jones ride as a kid, nowhere near as horrific of an experience, but still pretty shitty. We were there for at least 30-45 minutes with no updates as to what was happening. To this day I still don't know why we were stuck, and we weren't even given an apology.

For the jar thing, scoop it with your hands or a utensil to put it in a zip lock bag, or even hold the ziplock bag inside out to scoop it out then clip the corner and use it as a pipet. Also, Jarvis, do you know that the caps come off?

The fact that if there was a fire or some shit they would have fucking died. The employees straight up saying “no we evacuated everyone already” is so insane. They would have died if there was a really serious emergency. Fuck the staff for real for that. That’s a genuinely traumatizing story I would have cried.

I would have cried. either that or my anxiety would have killed me. altho... sometimes I hit survival mode? once the situation is bad enough? but wow, glad it worked out somehow

that alarm for 10 minutes makes me happy i carry ear plugs for my audio sensitivity. it would be fucking terrifying and overstimulating.
edit. the flight problem is why I don't fly in general, my husband has the luck that we would have that experience and I cant do that.

I sort of completely forgot people other than ChadChad were there in the airport with her until she mentioned someone punching a wall. That really got me from laughing til I can't to breathe to just sort of devastated for the people there. Someone out there was trying to fly out for maybe the most important thing of their life but possibly missed it because of this whole thing. Delays are quite common but just the continuous cycle of, like Jordan said, Lemony Snicket's A series of Unfortunate Events is just astounding.

As someone who travels regularly travels to DFW for layover at that airport. It's one that regularly gets shut down for weather. A couple of my coworkers have had to sleep in that airport, and others have driven nearly hours to the next nearest airport to leave the state. I try my hardest to avoid any flights in/out of DFW. The airlines will also refuse to cancel your flights for the shutdown in hopes you accept their flight rebooking, so they dont need to cover costs associated to the shutdown too

all of them forgetting that funnels can be used to transfer shampoo into travel bottles is so funny

I know that like late June there was a heat wave in multiple parts of the country and it caused a bunch of flights to be delayed for like days (maybe longer) and a lot of people were just essentially trapped in the airport because they couldn't afford to stay in a hotel wherever so maybe that's still affecting flights and stuff

Hearing Chad Chad's story makes me so glad of my Midwest mentality of not flying unless absolutely necessary. Although I still could have been in that situation because driving across the whole country is a little too much even for me

The Millennium Falcon thing is AWFUL.
I see a lot of other comments saying with Buzz Lightyear and omnimover rides that those ones do stop a lot because of accessibility. Which is true! But if you're not familiar with ride systems (most people) or you're not in a group where someone needs that accessibility, it makes perfect sense that it seems like the ride is constantly breaking down. There's gotta be an easier way to let more people know what to expect when they go to a place they spent hundreds of dollars to go to.

I've never been to Disney and can't see myself wanting to go anytime soon, but if something like that happened my first time going to Disney, I would never go back!

The Buzz Lightyear ride stops to allow employees to help riders get on at the beginning. It honestly sucks even without the frequent stops.
