For all the people who don’t understand why he put the fights he did, He did it on purpose to show that literally any fight (not the original trilogy) can and is better than the fights in the sequels.
ОтветитьYou mean went from the Obiwan/Vader fight in A New Hope to this? Lol. Wonder why that's not in here.
ОтветитьI’m blaming the Plinkett reviews on this one, no matter how much Mike claims that it’s not his fault. Those reviews made it clear that lightsaber fights are only good when they’re awkwardly clacking sticks together.
ОтветитьLet's just agree the sequels sucked... I have erased them from my memory.
ОтветитьI get it. They kinda brought back this type of fighting in Asokha. The latest fight was awesome. It’s obvious that both Rey and Ben didn’t have any formal training and simply fought with raw power. If Ben did have any training, it went right out the door once he disowned his family. Especially Luke.
ОтветитьThat backhand grip does my head in. They use it all the time and except in the right situation, it is completely useless
ОтветитьWelcome to the cancel culture and their crying
Ответитьbut isnt this comparing properly trained jedi to not trained properly?
ОтветитьAh, Star Wars fans, the only group who hate Star Wars more than any other.
ОтветитьFun fact.. ironically the latter is MORE realistic even though accidentally… not all the fights y’all think are cool.. 99% of all attacks are literally targeting the opponents lightsaber.. conclusion y’all been brainwashed to like the former.. meanwhile most ppl with knowledge of how “swordsmenship” actually happens still like the entertainment but there’s some disappointment in how unrealistic.. utterly removed from reality swordfights are.. personally even as a kid I was really awestruck or impressed by ep1-3 sword fighting.. again cool for entertainment sake but I was on my counch like “OMG STOP AIMING AT EACHOTHERS SWORDS” 😂
ОтветитьSONG?
ОтветитьI mean the lightsaber fights in the sequels weren’t the worst…
There’s the story, for one.
Who even finds star wars interesting except americans 😂
ОтветитьI think it could have worked if they explained that light saber duels were not that common and thus the skill levels between the old series and the newer ones were greatly reduced. Just a thought. Not like they did that.
ОтветитьYou forgot the original trilogy
ОтветитьLiterally no difference. xD You could swap Rey's fight with any of the fights from the 'before' scenes and the video would be the same.
ОтветитьWhy Disney?
Ответитьif you hate Rey Skywalker you're sexist and racist too!!!
ОтветитьThere is definitely a lack of elegance and grace to the new stuff. They are clunky and unrefined.
ОтветитьGrow up ffs
ОтветитьTbf Rey using the lightsaber like a baseball bat does kind of fit because she doesn't know any better, but she should not keep winning with a technique like that
ОтветитьOne's a video game and also it's a different era? There's not as many different people to fight nor as much a reason to perfect your specific style also neither of them were properly trained in ls combat
ОтветитьIve recently found an explanation to this in one of George Lucas old interviews from before the sequels. He stated that in episode 4 the saber fighting looks the way it does cuz he was inspired by samurai movies and he believed the saber energy was so heavy to control it required 2 hands. Later in 5 and 6 it incorporated some single hand techniques as the assumption was Luke had improved as a duelist. By the time filming for 1,2&3 began he wanted something different as this would be at the HEIGHT OF THE JEDI ORDER. These were Jedi traditionally trained in the Jedi ways at the temple where they wouldve had multiple masters and lessons a day. Yoda trained Luke in a swamp. Ntm after order 66 many of the lightsaber forms died with many of those Jedi (Lucas didnt say this part this is my take) so all the peak Duelists and their techniques were gone, essentially eventually leaving behind the likes of Rey and Kylo, the latter having never completed his Jedi training as he never achieved the rank of Master. This makes a world of sense to me thou i still prefer the fast paced saber fights
ОтветитьSo true. I am so disgusted with the so called 7, 8, and 9 fight scenes
ОтветитьRey wasn’t a trained jedi and Kylo had been just smashed by Chewie’s blaster. It’s understandable that their fight is very rustic. It would make zero sense that a girl who just grabbed the lightsaber for the first time would fight all acrobatic like the prequels. Hence she uses the saber as a baseball bat, and in order to make it an even fight, they made Kylo really injured.
Ответитьthey fixed this with asoka at least
ОтветитьTrue
Ответитьhonestly always was crap other than the darth maul fight
ОтветитьThis is stupid. I’m not a huge fan of the sequels either but why didn’t he add the fight after Snoke died, or even the Kylo v Luke fight. I remember people shitting on the prequels when Obi Wan and Anakin were twirling their sabers for no reason on Mustafar. This is video is just shitting on the sequels for the sake of shitting on the sequels. The lightsaber fights were not one of the sequels weaknesses.
ОтветитьNo what's real sad I'd that ear cancer you felt was good to put in a video
ОтветитьOK, but let's not pretend the Sidious jumping thing wasn't goofy as fuck.
Ответитьover-choreographed is better than a slower fight? Is this supposed to be a joke
ОтветитьDisney really screwed the pooch on starwars sad to see a beloved series i grew up with ruined by disney 😢
ОтветитьIts like watching a swords fight vs peiple swinging comically heavy baseball bats
ОтветитьMy only issue with the prequel fights is way too much pointless lightsaber twirling. Its like they are trying to make them look cooler and as if there is more movement and action then there actually needs to be. It makes them look more choreographed than they need to be. Not saying the sequels are better, but too many of the prequel fights feel like they are trying to be cool over practical.
ОтветитьThis video needs to be redone to show the slow boring lightsaber battles from Ahsoka and Obi Wan
ОтветитьThe best saber duel in all of SW is Keneobi v Maul part 2. Rebels season 3 ep 20. Twin Suns
Ответитьlol, I like how you omitted the second part of the Anakin/Dooku fight which was literally lights flashing in front of faces. The sequels were by no means great, but this post sucks.
ОтветитьWhat's really sad is the storytelling in everything Star Wars that came after the original trilogy. This shouldn't come as a surprise, the Holiday Special was a sign.
ОтветитьIt's hilarious to see Zoomers go back to the prequels as examples of "good" just because they hate the sequels. There are plenty of videos out there about how bad the prequel fights are, full of pointless twirling and acrobatics, and how they should go back to the style of the original trilogy, where people used lightsabers like real swords, with heft. Now it's the opposite. You can't win with "fans."
ОтветитьI see no difference.
ОтветитьWhen he put Palpatine spinning I thought that it was a joke 😂 that is the worst fight oat
ОтветитьBut it makes sense. In the earlier movies the Jedi were better trained
ОтветитьPrequel fights were garbage. Looked nothing like fights, just gay ballet choreography
ОтветитьNot true
ОтветитьJokes on you, this is actually what the people want. Lightsaber fights were not supposed to be over bloated, over choreographed fight scenes that went on forever, with characters no one cares about. The goal of a Saber fight is to be slower and about RAW EMOTIONAL CONTENT. This is why the saber fights in the originals were slow yet good.
And why they slowed them down in the sequels.. and why the sequels outsold the prequels.
How you gonna show the palpatine “fight” from Episode III? He “defeats” highly trained Jedi with a single lighthearted poke, it’s so underwhelming!
But at least we get the hilarious spin attack
It went from CGI to REAL
ОтветитьDon't watch the first movies 😑
ОтветитьI like the original trilogy the most and its strange to see it evolved so bad
Ответить
