I upgraded from a 5800X to a X3D with my extremely overclocked 6800XT(waterblocked, liquid metaled, EVC2SE overvolted max frequency) and in games like MWIII2023 I went from 170-215 fps to 230-350fps

in most games my old high is my current low and the new highs are much higher.

in the few games that gain no upper fps, they stabilize the lower framerates, makes everything smoother.

was well worth the upgrade.

Currently having a 3900X...considering to upgrade to a 5800X3D can't find any comparative test of those two...would it be a good upgrade? Or should I spare money and bounce to AM5 witha 7800X3D ( but MB and Ram is soo expensive >< )

I just bought a 5800X3D for $263 total and will likely be selling a 5900X and installing it for $260 into a friends prebuilt with a 3900x currently. He does productivity tasks like music creation so it's a good deal for both of us. I only rock a 6900XT at darn near 4k resolution (5120x1440p @240hz) and I cap my frames to 238fps to always stay within the monitors freesync range. I just enabled curve optimizer and first tried negative all core -10 but then tested -15 and I get almost max boost on all cores during C23 multicore test. My score went up by around 600 points as well. I don't want to push it on voltage reduction as generally starving electronics of voltage isn't a great idea because it then stresses them as they pull more amps to compensate. So I'm thinking -15 is as far as I want to push it.

Fun fact, in some games this chip might still be bottlenecked. As far as i understand, only the 4090 doesn't bottleneck this chip

dude, you dont compare cpu performance in game by testing it with high or ultra graphic setting...

I have a 5950x and have a 4090. Thought because I do art also the 5950x would help but im not sure. Maybe I should drop down to 8 cores 16threads? Idk if the 16cores 32threads helps art or not. Meh, anyone running an RX 6900 XT or 6950 XT gaming rig is likely out for 1440p or even 4k with high graphical fidelity. That puts the strain firmly back on the GPU and I doubt you'd seen any noteworthy gain from a 5800X3D over a 5800X in that situation. Eventually, by the time that you can get a powerful enough GPU to change that, it'll probably be time for a whole platform upgrade anyway.

My current build was put together right when AM5 was just coming out. I decided to go with a 5800X3D/z570 because it just seemed like a much better value.

why not include 4k benchmarks? i know it is mostly a GPU bottleneck at that resolution but i want to know if it is worth upgrading my CPU if i want to stick with 4k.

a 5600x3d is as fast as my 133700k, in gaming alone! just 30FPS difference, but it feels faster because of the L3 cash! But would never render a 4 min Video in 1 min! but that is what you pay extra!

I pick a 5800x3d for a new rig and I wish I have gone for AM5. Prices still a little bit higher but I'm pretty sure the higher clock speeds of both memory and processor will benefit us more with the launch of all these broken games at release. Also the 5800x3d is way too hot.

You guys need to look into undervolting the 5800x3d it is so worth it.

I get that weirdly people want to stroke there egos by seeing there cpu win at 1080p or 1440p. Thats not me don't give rats A$$. I only care about playing at highest resolution above 30 fps. Say whatever you want I play at 4k on oled TV and 30 fps is fantastic. Most the time I am locked at 60 anyway. I would never buy 300, 400$ cpu to play at 1080p, EVER! makes no sense to me at all. I do not play FPS like CSGO or COD, cannot stand them so boring and non-creative dull games with repetitive gaming. I don't play to compete either I play to experience and that is best done at 4k. I say this all because ALWAYS I see people complain when a cpu test is done at higher res, well a huge majority play at 1440p nd 4k not 1080p! You may want to be able to say you have the best cpu so you want it to win, looool kinda childish! But a big amount of gamer play single player games at high resolutions and want to see how the cpu's compare at those res to make a good purchase. And 1080p does not show real world comparison for us. I know this makes you angry as all you care about is having the fastest cpu so you can brag but there are so many that do not care about your cpu or gpu they are looking to upgrade and want to see a 1 to 1 comparison not one that they never play at.

The 5800X3D was as low as $279 at Microcenter until the 5600X3D arrived there and pushed prices up on al the 5000 series. The 5800X3D is good at $270 and the 5600X3D $200. You had it right wait a few months save a ton.

i bought this thing and its been such a beast, i put my 5950x in my video editing pc and this thing went into my gaming pc and its been running great for every game at 3444x1440 max settings

The X3D chip also destroys VR games and simulators like DCS, ACC, iRacing etc. I sim race on triples and in VR, and play VRChat. This CPU perfectly fits my needs.

So i have a 5600x with 3080 should i upgrade to this or would i also require a 4080+ to get the real gains?

i got mine after a won a gift card at work so out of pocket it was a $100 purchase. so i had an x-570 asus gaming and went from a 2700x to a 5800x3d. that should be pointed out that am4 was just badass.

I just upgraded from a 3600x to a 5800x3d. It arrives tomorrow. I was getting serious buyers remorse - always do - so I’m going on a video binge to justify my purchase, and these videos are making me feel somewhat better that it’s a chip I can use for 3 years at least.

AM5 is just too expensive rn as gaming isn’t my only hobby, so hopefully it’s a good upgrade for possibly even longer. I play a lot of games like Arma, Total War, Paradox Games mostly Heart of Iron, Bannerlord, Stalker GAMMA modpack, all which have a lot going on with NPC counts or are CPU focused, so that thought is helping me deal with this crippling anxiety I get every time I upgrade.

I have Ryzen 5600 non X and thinking to upgrade to 5800X3D for future purposes cuz i dont think that 5600 will be good for future cards.
But then again i have RTX 2070 now, not smart what to do.
