What a great review!

Can I take out the DCM and throw it in the garbage? Don't need that crap.

Found this:

I pulled the fuse on my DCM and never looked back. Unless you've got remote start or remote lock ability, it's pretty useless and just gathers information about you.

Sep 25, 2022 Which fuse and where is it located?

Sep 25, 2022 On my Corolla hybrid it is in the right fuse box under the hood. Right most row, in the middle. Labeled “DCM/Mayday.” 7.5 amp orange.

From your videos and others, I also learned that newer Toyotas made in the USA, have build quality issues with panel gaps, window seals, and poorly finished plastic body parts.

Just bought 2020 RAV4 XLE. Drove to Las Vegas, NV last week. Pretty good to drive and good MPG. I don't like 8-speeds transmission shifting. I think CVT Transmission would be a lots smoother.

I am planning to buy a RAV4 hybrid. The question is, do I buy a 2024 where most of the problems have been ironed out, or do I risk buying the new 2025 model with possibly a slew of problems like the 2019?

We own a 2019 Rav4 hybrid. Local Toyota dealer fixed the gas tank isssue recently. Our biggest issue was corrosion along the main wiring harness which connects the main battery to the two electric motoŕs and gasoline motor. Splits in the orange colored protective coating caused error messages to appear and started to affect the functionality of the entire hybrid system. The local Toyota dealer indicated it would take some time to fix this problem as no wiring harnesses were available in Canada or the US. They said their hands were tied with respect to supply chain issues, and there wasn't much they could do. As this answer wasn't acceptable to us, I contacted Toyota Canada directly. Toyota Canada stepped up to the plate, and a replacement harness was delivered to and installed by the local dealer within a week. As they say, the "squeaky wheel usually gets the grease."

We love our Rav4 Hybrid, which replaceð our PriusV Hybrid and the Camry Hybrid before it.

Cheap af car, I mean cheap in quality. Its reliable bc it has nothing in it. Just an engine and 4 wheels and literally nothing else. Dont even get heated seats in the back, not even at their entry but exacutive trim level. Its fkn ridiculous, even my kia sportage from 2012 entry trim had that.

Planing to buy one second hand from dealership (up to 30k km) and now I am confused - don't want to have additional charge on connections and am sick and tired of being tracked everywhere, and when my personal details are stolen on line -bad luck! As a customer, don't want to have understandings for a mistakes - driving Hilux last 10 years and no problems what so ever - 260K km!
Will have to do some additional research for this problems though.

All my life I wanted a brand new Rav4 Hybrid. I finally bought a brand new 2023 and I loved the hybrid, the ground clearance and the 4 wheel drive. I was so in love that I totally ignored the drastic design flaws. The roof is two inches too low. I am 5'10" and I bang my head every time I get in and out and what's even worse is the serious visibility flaws. When I look 30 degrees to the right the rear view mirror is directly in front of my face. If I want to look 30 degrees to the right I have to duck my head down to see underneath the rear view mirror. After four months of constantly banging my head and serious visibility problems I am now sorry that I ever bought a RAV4 at all. Plus I heard of a new class action law suit because the moon roof drains are short circuiting the air bags which it claims Toyota knew about but failed to fix which the customer must now pay to fix. I'm sorry I bought a RAV4.

Great sum up of problems & solutions. But what I was waiting for you skipped, for maybe you were not aware of. And it is Internal Toyota service notification T-TT-0630-20, which confirms rust problems with high voltage wire harness that connects to the MGR. I've read about it all over forums, people saying repair is costly, from 4000-8000 US$, and in most times Toyota authorized service is trying to avoid claiming warranty, as rust is involved. I am looking to buy RAV4 PHEV 2019 or 2020, but such a costly repair of rusty high voltage harness is a deal braker for me, especially as further prevention is not addressed.

As a technician myself, its nice to hear the common problems AND their solutions laid out in a honest fashion. No extra drama, Just the complaint, cause and correction. My wife and I switched to Toyota after years of major issues with our GM and Chrysler vehicles. Software and grounds seems better than a transmission in a silverado at 50k miles....
Great video bud!

My daughter in law has a 2020 and this model has a problem with the electrical system where the battery dies overnight. It has to do with the ECM software. There is a class lawsuit in Georgia regarding this issue since Toyota charges customers to update the software to fix this problem. I have not been able to find an alternative fix for this problem.

I’m buying a pre owned 2019 Adventure (Trail) and when I tried to start the remote start on the key fob it doesn’t do anything. So they said it doesn’t have remote start. I’m wondering if it may and something needs to be reset. Do all the Adventure models start with the key remote? We are doing it the way you show in the video.
