All I see is a caring young woman (Princess Leonor) holding her Grandmother's hand and for some reason her Mother doesn't like it. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Princess Leonor is awesome

Looks like the commoner 'Queen' Letizia is trying desperately to stop her daughter from holding hands with her grandmother. If I were Queen Sofia I would be very upset by such a loving gesture between grandmother and granddaughter. I guess Letizia isn't wanting to present the royals as loving in any way. i think there is a reason for this. Usually Leonor stands next to her father on his right as a place of honor. However, since today its infanta sofia's confirmation, she is standing next to her father on his right so queen sofia should be standing next to infanta sofia as she is protagonist of today's event. I actually think Letizia wanted to give prominence to infanta sofia by having her stand between the king and the queen mother especially because many years ago the whole royal family including the king juan carlos and queen sofia were criticized for publically favoring Leonor over Sofia - there is even a vid that went viral about this. I really think that Letizia wanted the moment to be on infanta sofia because she has allowed leonor to stand next to queen sofia in the past few years on other events
