Hello Dylan, compliments on your Channel, which I love to watch from allmost the other side of the world (The Netherlands). Question: the SW Adventurer can be used for timelapse photography as well, is it not? You might consider making a part II review on that functionality as well. If so I would appreciate it a lot. Best regards, clear skies, Peter.

Like the "elevator" music :) :P I use my Star Adventurer on a Promaster 535 tripod, so it's pretty solid. But I've been thinking of getting a tripod off a small eq mount to make it even more beefy.

Great review Dylon. We are looking for a camera tracker. The reviews are all positive. But how many seconds is it capable of tracking?
I plan to use 14mm. 50mm and 300mm lenses on a canon 760d, Crop sensor.
many thanks from sunny Poland 👍

If you attach a ball head on top and then place a camera or telescope on top of that, it would be easier to point at your intended target.

I have one of these, and haven't had much time to use it yet, but yes, get rid of any tripod head and get it right on the tripod and it's pretty stable.

Hi Dylan. Jut unboxed my SA from Bintel. How do you actually engage the motor
? I have batteries, turn to 12x tracking, the leds come on, but when I hit the arrow buttons nothing happens. Is there a switch I've missed? I've tried tightening/loosening the clutch... I even read the manual .. but so far nada... what am missing?

Does anyone make a way to connect like a 200mm canon zoom to a Astro camera and have a focus adjustment in between, so you don’t have to depend on manually focusing the lens. Thx

You are a bad man , after your review I just went and bought one , can’t afford it but what the hell ? Will be using either my Tamron 150/600 or a cheap arse 650/1200 with a Sony a99 . Has to be at least 10 years since I have done any so a steep learning curve coming up . Am lucky living in Cairns only need to go about 60k to get almost dark, out to the gulf country for proper dark but that is only a 4 hour drive . I like it when I am at least 80k from the nearest light pollution

Did you install the "Advanced" firmware? Perhaps it was pre-installed being a new 2019 white one. This lets you use the Star-Adventurer as an interval timer remote release for the camera.

The clock is pretty good and doesn't warrant purchasing a guider unless you are making very long exposures. But if you already have a spare one, why not. Intended use seems to be camera and lens. Some long lenses especially on a crop sensor can be as long a focal length as a small telescope. For example the 50-500 APO Bigma on a M4/3 becomes like 1000mm, at F/6.3. Good with a short fast lens for wide sky too.

The german mount can take some getting used to, you don't need a ball head unless you must have the camera sitting upright.
