NO! do not do this method! It comes across super creepy and/or controlling. You ALSO need to allow the other person to also ask You questions.

Doing this method puts you in control of the conversation and anyone with more then 5 brain cells will be annoyed by it in very short order.

I've had people try this with me so many times and I just find some reason to excuse myself and walk away.

But sure, its better then just rapid fire questions without giving any info about yourself in return.

You do need to take turns talking though for sure. (So many people don't do this and it's even WORSE then this video!)

I do this too and it is very helpful. To add to it, if one person keeps asking the question and another keeps answering, the conversation can soon feel tiring to both persons. Instead, when the person answers my question, I’d occasionally add little comments about myself to invite a more two-sided and potentially deeper conversation. E.g. if they talk about their cat, I’d say I have a dog that I love dearly too and ask them if they have a picture of their cat (and show them my dog’s picture too if they do). Everyone enjoys it more if they feel like they made a real connection with a person.

I am using this method my whole life and works well with everyone and it definitely shows my honest interest about them. I was quite dissapointed when i came into a conclusion that other people very rarely use this method on me. It just shows how the people are only interested in themselves and nothing else.

People in comment section is like: this method is as old as dinasour, everyone know about it. You thought I'm a robot learning how to be human? This video is kidding!!

Me: 19 yrs old still having a really hard time figuring out why everyone around me using this method as simple as walking, they just do it with no trouble like speaking their mother language. While myself is the guy who don't ask back after being asked, then they find you not interesting and rarely talk to you anymore

One tip I’ve learned: don’t just ask questions that they can answer shortly like yes or no. Instead ask something that they need to invest more like what do you like to do. This way the other person answers something more important to them and it’s nicer to talk about it than something that they just happened to say yes.

Absolutely legend. After watching countless channels on psychology, philosophy etc. I came across with yours and right in this first video I've watched, I felt extremely comfortable. Many others were ruthlessly depicting interpersonal communication as a scary, dangerous minefield (including the most popular ones such as The School of Life), and it quickly starts to feel as a complete shit-show. I can't describe how eye-opening and calming this one is. Thank you so much.

I feel like the key to having good conversations (and using The Ping Pong Method) is active listening. Don’t just listen to someone to wait until they’re finished and say the point you’re ready to say. Actually listen to them and ask questions acknowledging that you heard what they say and you find it interesting. No one likes talking to someone when you feel like they’re not even paying attention.

Thecfirst part of the video was great. The second part with the example was was shallow. It only described how many questions where ask to the motorcycle guy instead of giving examples on how one elaborates and then turns into another question. This twist is hard and would have been interesting to see how it works.

Ping pong method works great for the direct communicators or if communication styles are completely different from each other, however the forums can be exhausting. The best ones are where you speak the same language and like similar things as well as match energy levels. At that point you can gleam what they want to talk about without questions and begin talking about those things which they can piggyback off of, then after that you let off the gas to let them talk a ton and they’ll do the same. I’m an ENFP with possible ADD and I think I mesh best with my INFPs, ENTPs, and other ENFPs in terms of natural communication. In other words with those types I need to spend any thought or effort in communicating with them cause we just get it. Other types, particularly Fe and Sensor types I tend to clash in communication with. Fe tend not dare to go into the topic depths that me and my ENTP/INFP friends like to get into and Sensors in general hate the conversations that aren’t directly attached to a real world effect or topic. Idk about other ENFPs but I know for sure I love to “collect” my introverted T’s as they tend to not like to have to converse due to having to contribute to the conversation and so I can recognize this and also it allows me to take up as much of the conversation as I want so long as I periodically ask them to make a judgement on everything I said. I’m like entertainment for them and they’re like a big mountain of info that I can totally topic dump all over without them getting hurt and once they get tired of it T’s are generally so direct that they’ll leave immediately and with little explanation or regard for my emotions which is okay considering I am just happy for the opportunity of a listener to my rants. Fe types can be annoying cause they seem to want to “manage” my communication and Se types will flat out hate anything non action oriented. ENFJ types are difficult in particular because they will try to be subtle and keep up with my Ne rants however they’ll get exhausted by it eventually and suddenly mid convo will point me out as being “inconsiderate” and so for them I kinda have to force myself to talk only about the more emotional, value based concepts and experiences

Great ❤ this what I always do when the other person also wants to talk to me. Unless I forget how to ask their name, until the next month I awkwardly ask, "We talk so much and it was so fun, yet I don't know your name. I'm lavender btw 😂"
