Doesn't matter only when you have lots of heroes portion other wise it matters even you have maxed ability lvl because you need your hero to be alive to use the full potential of your heroes

It is not matter to increase heroes level to maximum level by using hero portion because it takes around 45-50 minutes to train the troops if army is ready then it works but not at all
